We stayed at Spice of Life for 7 days in July/August. The house has great location to beaches, restaurants and activities. Views from Great room and pool are fantastic. Ms. B is wonderful and helpful with cleaning and washing. The owners are very responsive to any questions we had before we arrived.
We did have problems with the windows in the home. When we arrived, we were told not to open some of the ones in the great room as once they were opened, they would not shut. Other windows leaked every time it rained. There were 4 areas around the great room were there would be puddles after every rain. Since it rained everyday we were there, we spent time each day cleaning up the mess. The windows pictured in the photos are not what is currently in the home. No other reviewers mentioned this. They must not have been during the rainy season.
The windows in the master bedroom do not fit the frame and rattle with the wind. We kept hearing a banging sound our first night and thought it was a gate or something outside, but firgured out it was the bedroom window. We tucked a Kleenex between the window and frame and it stopped the sound. After one full day of rain, we came home to find a dozen large (1 inch) black/red ants with wings crawling on the walls and windows of the master bedroom. We thought that was because of the huge amount of rain that had fallen, but the next evening we came home to find the same thing and it had not rained that day. Again, we killed about a dozen of those bugs. We spent our last night in a nearby hotel as i wanted to sleep without worrying if they were crawling near me.
Also, we were not able to get the hot water in the master shower to work. Since there were only 2 of us, we took showers in guest room by pool.
The home does have "great bones" but it needs some work.
We just visited Grenada for a 5 day vacation and stayed at Spice of Life. This villa has a lovely charm to it and the views from this location are simply breathtaking! We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and we're greeted by the housekeeper Mrs. B. She was an aboslutely amazing host and took care of everything we would need. We enjoyed the Villa's large open living area, the pool and outdoor deck areas. From any vantage point we were greeted by the fantastic views of Mt. Hartman Bay. The villa is well appointed with all major amentities and is really the ideal getaway location for rest and relaxation. We did have an issue with an air conditioning unit but this was promptly rectified by the Villa's property manager. Overall a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it!
My brother got married on the island and our family stayed at the villa for 10 days.
What an amazing time we had. We all fell in love with Grenada and the Spice of Life Villa was the perfect place to stay and explore.
The house itself is very large and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool area is really great, clean and has beautiful views of the bay below. We could have spent all our time around the pool but had much to explore on the island.
The kitchen was VERY well equipped with plenty of utensils, pots, pans for cooking etc. and we very much appreciated the basics in the cupboards such as salt and pepper among a few other things - this is great when you're on holiday and don't want to be buying all that stuff. The BBQ was also very handy.
The living room is vast and a really fab area for entertaining or chilling out and again the views are incredible. Because the owners use this place themselves, it gives the villa a homely feel with board games to hand for the 10 minute rain downpours. The fans in the lounge also provide a welcome breeze as well as the A/C in the bedrooms.
Mrs B was great and was always on hand to clean and wash anything in sight. The pool was also cleaned twice whilst we were there.
Location is great and not far from the main action. We hired a car and would recommend doing so although there are some buses which come close by the Villa.
We will be back to Grenada for sure and would be more than happy to stay again!
Thanks to Lance for his good communication and flexibility.
My partner and I have been to Grenada nine times, each time staying at the Spice of Life. Our last visit was November/December 2017. Quite simply, it is a beautiful, spacious, well equipped and well looked after villa in a stunning location overlooking Mount Hartman bay. There's nothing quite like sitting on the upper terrace enjoying a glass of wine...or a bottle of carib beer enjoying the gorgeous view and watching the yachts bobbing in the bay below. The pool (which has recently been refurbished) is a great area to chill out, entertain, catch some rays and have a refreshing dip. Bernadette the housekeeper is lovely. She is always welcoming, helpful and has a lot of local knowledge. Any queries and minor issues we have have ever had have been quickly and courteously addressed by the owners and/or Bernadette. We will be back...again, some-time soon.
I have booked the simply wonderful Spice of Life 3 times over the last 5 years (once at Christmas, in July 2014 and once for Carnival in summer last year). I am hoping to book again for this Christmas, hence coming here to look at dates and decided to leave the review it deserves!
The location is perfect, in the upmarket neighbourhood of Lance aux Epines, only 15 minutes from the airport, beaches and shops. It is quiet and refined here, and the villa is like a home from home.
Spice of Life is spacious, well appointed and oh my! The views from the pool over the bay are unbelievable. You will definitely want to enjoy a cocktail and evenings here on the lovely terrace! The beautiful wrap around windows in the large lounge are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery and cooling breezes.
I find the villa extremely welcoming and comfortable, from the sumptuous master suite, to the shelves full of books and the well equipped kitchen. There is car parking, a lovely garden, terrace and the pool on different levels. It has a tasteful and relaxed feel, and I really enjoy spending time here.
The local management company went out of their way when we locked ourselves out during one visit, and were always on hand to answer questions and help. The owners themselves responded quickly to my various queries and couldn't have been nicer. It seems every reviewer raves about Miss B - the enigmatic and charming housekeeper. She looked after us beautifully on each visit, such a warm and friendly person (and yes, ask her to make you the local speciality oil down - yum!).
The house and grounds were well looked after, and kept immaculate during each of my stays.
Grenada itself is a wonderful island, a true taste of the Caribbean, relaxed, friendly, authentic and beautiful! There is so much to see and do. I can't rate it highly enough, even having visited other islands, I keep coming back here, and to the Spice of Life. Both are extremely special, and if you are lucky enough to visit you will see why!
Located in a great place on the island in Lance Epines, an affluent area with security patrols. Would recommend hiring a vehicle to make the most of what the island has to offer. Beware the mosquitos!
The villa has the wow factor, better in real life than in pictures. The view across Mt Harman bay was spectacular, I could have sat in the window seat for hours just admiring the view. The villa had everything we could have asked for and more, my son particularly enjoyed the pool which was so warm and inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return around the same time next year if the villa is available.
