The B&B where we stayed recommended the Goat on our first night in Wales, and we enjoyed it so much we ended up going 3 nights in a row , which is very unlike us ! It is worth pointing out that booking is essential as they get very busy any nights of the week. The staff is very attentive and efficient. The warm bread brought as you order is a nice touch. We had the chance to try a wide range of main courses and all were invariably excellent and beautifully presented. The grilled cod loin with garlic butter was moist and tasty, the steak and kidney pie was very rich , although the puff pastry disc added just before serving looked nice but was rather bland in comparison . The fish pie was again very tasty , and so was the pork tenderloin . The helpings are generous , and the accompanying vegetables well seasoned. The salad is fresh and the addition of a couple of sliced strawberries on top was a very good idea ( I will have to copy it ! ) . We chose a different red wine on each night, the Shiraz was very good, and so was the Pinot noir but for value for money's sake and would definitely recommend their house wine which is a southern French little number and comes in a 1 litre bottle . It was as rich and as smooth as the previous 2 we had before but a little cheaper. My only disappointment was the fact that our dog had to wait in the car as she was not
welcome inside. We are so used to taking her in all pubs and restaurants when we go to Cumbria and The Lakes . Small issue though , as I would definitely return there !
