We stayed on a Travelzoo overnight package, and on arrival parked in the spacious rear car park before making our way round to the front door and into Reception and the bar area. We were warmly welcomed by a charming and efficient young lady, who showed us out through the conservatory to our room (which was back next to the car park) in a newish single-storey building. Tip: you can go into the hotel through the conservatory - no need to walk round to the front! The Case is on the busy A134, but thankfully the rooms are tucked away behind the main building and at night there was no disturbance from traffic noise whatsoever.

The room was slightly small but beautifully furnished, and both the bedroom and the lovely bathroom were spotlessly-clean. Everything you could think of had been provided for your comfort and enjoyment, from facecloths, shoe-cleaner, toiletries, tissues & cotton-wool pads in the bathroom to the best refreshment tray I have ever seen. Home-made cookies, a cafetière with a choice of regular or decaffinated filter coffee, Nescafé, hot chocolate, tea and fresh milk in a small Thermos flask - magic after a long journey. A large flat-screen tv and free wi-fi were provided.

Our voucher included for dinner a starter and a main course plus a glass of wine per person, and we sat in the bar with a drink while perusing the dishes on offer. The selection is small but carefully thought out, and is complemented by a specials board featuring fish (on the day we were there). We placed our order and our first courses duly arrived. Both were delicious, but my husband felt his portion was on the small side. The main courses were ample and beautifully cooked, although we had to wait quite a long while for them considering there were only a handful of other diners that night. My husband ordered a dessert, which he said was delicious.

We had a comfortable nights sleep, and the next morning headed for the conservatory, where breakfast is served between 8.30 and 9.30am only, which on a weekday morning might be a hindrance if you have a busy day ahead. We both opted for the full English breakfast, and have to say it was amongst the best we have ever eaten. Freshly-prepared from carefully selected ingredients, it was truly delicious, and accompanied by toast, orange juice, tea or coffee.

All in all, our stay was most enjoyable and good value thanks to the TravelZoo voucher offer. However the restaurant prices were rather steep, and we don't think they represented good value unless you were on a special deal. We also have to agree with another reviewer that the informal attitude of the older lady (presumably the owner?) didn't sit too well with us. We are not snobs, but my husband has a thing about being called "Love" by anyone to whom he has no affectionate connection - it hints at a lack of professionalism and it contrasted unfavourably with the service we had received on arrival from (presumably) young members of staff.

We stayed on the second on a Travelzoo package with a Premier Room upgrade. The service was superb and most welcoming on arrival. The food was excellent. We had main courses from the Specials board. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We could not have been made more welcome. Free Wifi was a bonus. The proof is would we pay the normal rate. We would and indeed will do.

Having lived in the area for more than 20 years dinner at The Case had reached the top of my 'to do' list. We had a travelzoo voucher and booked a table for Saturday January 26th. When we arrived we 'skated' our way across the untreated car park past the open door with a chorus of loud music blaring from the kitchen and entered the restaurant and I suppose from here my 'disappointment' began. We were greeted in a pleasant manner and shown to a table in the conservatory, it was about 7.50 and we thought it nice to have a pre-dinner drink as our table wasn't booked until 8.15. Whilst waiting for our drinks we overheard some guests being told the oven had broken and that the kitchen was struggling with the orders especially as they had a large party waiting to be seated. By 8.15 and empty glasses we still hadn't been seated and around 8.30 we were given a menu and offered another drink. When we heard another couple ask when they would be seated, we realised there was a problem. Finally, an older lady (member of staff) came over to us and explained that the oven was broken. She was very informal in her manner even placing her hands on my husbands shoulder whilst explaining the situation in the kitchen and how stressed she was feeling. Recognising the problem I suggested at 8.50 we cancelled our table and rearranged another date. We were assured that we would be seated within 10 minutes at 9pm shown to our table. The waitress didn't 'pull my chair' out, place our napkins or pour the water, which may sound petty to some but in the restaurants I eat in, is considered the norm. None of the waiting staff appeared apologetic at all for the delay, just comfortable to share their level of stress and anxiety with all guests in earshot! The only part of the meal that deserves 4 stars was the medallions of beef fillet, the soup had been 'microwaved' beyond taste, the deep fried Brie was cold and the lamb was tasteless. The pomegranate cheesecake was a strange unpleasant combination and the eves pudding and custard, the only hot pudding on the menu was merely ordinary. Our waitress didn't seem able to walk past our table without knocking into my husbands chair and service was overall average at best. Maybe our visit was just 'unfortunate' as most of the reviews on here are good, would we return, probably not, I prefer more formality from waiting staff, excellent service and most of all excellent food!!

We have just returned from a weekend here on a Travelzoo voucher, which can honestly say was excellent value for money. Food excellent along with rooms cosy and very clean and well presented along with lovely little finishing touches. Breakfast one of the best I have along with Lyn and her staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. If only you could clone Lyn and put her in some of our local places. Totally recommended and will visit again. Thank you for a lovely stay and keep up the good work

This was our second visit here both times using a voucher which makes it good value, there is no questioning the quality of the food. The big problem though which seriously takes the pleasure out of the experience is the front of house pre dinner service. The second visit reminded me of the problem of the first visit. The first time we were offered a seat in the bar and a ordered a pre dinner drink all fine. It was then half an hour before we were offered a menu and then a further half our before Bering taken to our table a total of an hour. Things were worse this time a total of an hour and a quarter, as I have said the food is very good but as a customer I object to being expected to having my evening out dictated to for the convenience of the kitchen. This is back to front if you run and work in a service industry you adjust your ways to the convenience of your clients and that is the only way. So please Case you offer good food just polish the act up and make it a good professional all round experience. If you do you will stop having to rely on discount deals for business.

My partner booked a Saturday night dinner, overnight and Sunday breakfast deal on a voucher, spectacular value for money. We enjoyed dinner, an interesting mix of British classics (e.g Fish and Chips), more trendy dishes such as Pulled Pork with sweet potato and retro food like deep fried brie with cranberry jelly. The standard room was spotless and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay, and proper coffee and fresh milk a bonus. Breakfast was super; a highlight for me was the home-made brown bread, a true treat to go with the fresh duck egg.

I'd also like to comment on the service. As others have said it was a bit chaotic but never less than friendly. Recommended.

We stayed here as part of a travelzoo deal. Arrived friday evening, lovely welcome, taken to our room, it was very tiny and very simple, felt a little like a premiere inn room. Thankfully the thermostat came off in the owners hand, we had to change rooms, the only available room was the bigger upgraded room, this was much bigger, amazing bathroom, nice stripe bath. Although still very plainly decorated. Dinner was l lovely, service was a little slow, put this down to it being the weeks before christmas, the breakfast the next day was nice as well . we were sat in the conservatory for both meals, i can imagine in the summer this would be lovely with the sun, to us at this time of year it felt as if we were sat seperatly from the rest of the restaurant, the conservatory is not in keeping with the rest of the restaurant which is a shame. Would come again, definitely upgrading the rooms a though!
