Decided to do a week-end for my wife's birthday and booked with Living Social. The deal was dinner bed and breakfast first night and a comp bottle of house wine with paid for dinner the second night.
So we arrived and the reception staff were very pleasant and gave us room #2 which had a pleasant view overlooking the mill pond and fields. The décor was rather faded but the bathroom was fine and the room was clean. Dinner was from the main menu and we were allowed £20pp value. This was hardly enough for two courses but the food was excellent and the service also very good. Next morning after a very comfortable night we had the breakfast buffet full English plus fruit (a small choice ) and not a large choice of bread or anything much else. The English breakfast was very good .
The second night we had a very good meal and got a credit for the house wine and 'upgraded' to a better bottle for only £3.20.
Overall it was a very pleasant week-end the town is very interesting with a guided walk 2hrs and visit to the Gainsborough Museum for £4pp a good deal. Long Melford is well worth the drive and has very high end clothes shopsMore
