“A Place of Peace”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

My husband, 13 year old daughter and I were lucky enough to spend a night on Wolwerfontein Farm...we were meant to spend 2 nights but work sadly called us away. The cottage is perfectly situated and all the charm of the karoo is right there on your stoep. The cottage is decorated with such a humourous eye. My daighter was not bored..a feat when you 13 years old and with your parents. The vistas are breathtaking and we plan another stay as soon as we can and this time for at least a long week-end.

I was invited by friends to join them one year at Wolverfontein farm and ever since then I make sure that I return at least once a year. I love the way Zara cottage is decorated - Quirky, eclectic and inspiring. The beds are a dream to sleep in. The hosts are fantastic, the dogs adorable and all in all a super place to put your feet up and drown in the milkyway at night.

An ideal escape from mainstream tourism . The spacious cottages are decorated in a Bohemian Retro style ..Tretchikov inspired Karoo farmhouse with quiet peaceful surroundings . An ideal place to catch up with some reading or journal writing. I have visited several times and appreciate that the owners dont interfere with your independent space. Nothing beats the nighttime skies and the long dirt road walks ..... The farm is a well restored old ostrich feather farm from the roaring Twenties .

If there is a place that I always recommend to anyone that is travelling through the Karoo, it is Wolverfontein Farm Cottages - We have stayed there many times and all I can say is BLISS BLISS BLISS! Andre and Ashley are delightful hosts - You have your privacy, and right on your doorstep you have so much beauty to explore - Whether you want to chillax or hike or cycle or gamedrive (nature reserve next door) you are spoilt with beautiful views, peace and quiet. Andre's deeply loved veggie garden produces the most delicious scrumptions freshest meals that they create together - This is a place that must be on your "bucket list" - otherwise, you are quite simply missing out on an experience that is truly special! I go to Wolverfontein Farm Cottages at least 2 or three times per year. Living in Cape Town - it is like a deep tissue massage for the soul to get into the country. I have never had anything but the very best experience and look forward to my next trip. Although it can be very hot in summer, in autumn or winter there is not better place to enjoy warm sunshine during the day and then snuggle up for a cosy evening next to the fire or under the sumptuous duvets that are a standard feature of all the cottages.

If you have a chance to travel to South Africa and you find yourself in the Karoo I recommend a stay in one of the Wolverfontain Cottages. A beautifully peaceful and idyllic location, that's blessed with charm and tranquility. The homely cottages are full of charm and ideal home comforts. To get away and enjoy the Klein Karoo at it's best this is the place.

What a perfect spot in the Klein Karoo to unwind and fill up your soul again. Our cottage was spacious, beautifully decorated in keeping with it's Waenhuis heritage and catered for our every need. Ashley, our host, gave us just the right amount of attention. The peace and tranquillity, sitting on the stoep with the fire crackling and a red, pink, orange sky exiting for the most magnificent display of stars is majestic. This is a winner, we can't wait to go back.
