I recently visited Ladismith on the Route 62 and stopped for a meal at Kanna Kombuis. The restaurant owner, welcomed me with a friendly smile and greeting. As it was a lovely hot day, I sat on the veranda. Visiting South Africa I wanted to taste the local cuisine, which I did. Various dishes were suggested by the friendly owner and I chose one off the menu. I chose a lamb curry which was served in a small cast iron three leg pot, which is called a potjie, this kept the lamb hot and I could dish up as much I wanted. (lovely idea) The vegetables were locally grown and nicely cooked. The portion was more than enough. The service was excellent, I waited maybe 20minutes before the meal was served. It was a wholesome, flavoursome meal. Compared to other restaurants along the Route 62, this meal was not expensive. Good value for what I was served. I would recommend any traveller to visit this restaurant.
