“Do not camp here - owner is rude”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

This campground is overpriced, only has 2 services and is out in nowhere land. We had friends come over to visit us for the day and it cost them 40$ (for 2 adults and 2 children) - what a ripoff !!! The facilities are average with narrow lots and little privacy.

The owner Dan is rude and verbally belligerent to his customers and to the children. He and his sidekick with the beard are constantly searching for violations and run this place as if it were a concentration camp. I honestly do not know why this guy owns a campground ?!?

Save yourself some stress and go camp elsewhere - where your business will be welcomed and where you will be treated with respect!!!

On our previous stay in June, we had a bad experience. We really weren't sure if we would be going there again. One of the things that we like about this place is that it's not too far from home, therefore a great little weekend camping getaway with the kids. We had gone last year for the Halloween festivities and decided to go there again this year. It did not disappoint! The kids (& adults!) had a blast. We went with another family & requested a 'buddy site'. This is great when going with another family. We were a bit disappointed that there was no haunted wagon ride on Friday night, but the Haunted House on Saturday more than made up for it. Lots of effort was put into it. Not very scary and can be enjoyed by most. There's was pumpkin carving in the afternoon where for 2$ you got a pumpkin to carve. Carving tools & gloves were provided. Later in the afternoon, kids could make a treat canvas bag for 4$. As usual, there was the ice cream social in the afternoon, where donation go to a charity, Camp Care. There was also a Bingo, best costume & best pumpkin contests. At night, kids went trick or treating. There is very strict & enforced quiet hours at 11h and a staff member will walk around reminding campers to keep it quiet. Fires out by midnight. This time, we were gently reminded about the rules a it after 11h, but we were already quiet. When you are a family with young kids, this rule is not much of a bother, we do go to bed early. I wish that the quiet hours of 11pm to 8am would be better enforced in the am, where parents do seem to care that other families & their kids could still be sleeping at 7ham. Overall, we were happy with our weekend. We will once again be going next summer. Bathrooms are spotless.

Room Tip: If going with other families or groups & booking online, add in the comment section that you wou...

I see a trend....read the reviews before staying at this disgrace of a KOA. The owner Dan Parent is a volatile....yes I said volatile infant who gets his jollies from making kids cry and being abusive to his Customers. He is easily agitated, over any questions or concerns and unfortunately I believe he is mentally unstable. All this goin cares about is getting his KOA corporate awards. Not the type of behaviour I would expect from the director of "Care Kamps"..... The only restitution I have is knowing that I and many others have called and officially lodged a formal complaint to KOA corporate on his behalf. I urge anyone to do the same if he continued this abuse.

Until this is resolved....stay away from this dictator at all costs! There are many other campgrounds in the 1000 Islands to choose from.

We have stayed here twice and each time the kids (and parents) loved it. It is only about 20 minutes outside of Montreal, but the location is very quiet. The kids loved riding their bikes around the campground, swimming in the pool, playing mini-golf and playing on the playground. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The kids got to meet other kids from all over the US and Canada while staying here. All of the people we met while camping were very friendly as well. Not a wilderness camping experience but if you are looking for a campground near the great city of Montreal this is it.

Took my grandson to this exceptional oasis for children! It is filled with fun for the little ones mixed with a relaxing atmosphere for the adults! From a swimming pool and water park to a jumping pillow, pirates ship playground and a mini golf game that no one can resist! All this wrapped up with a night time campfire and marshmallow roast...you can't go wrong!

Room Tip: All of the camping cabins are great! The rustic cabins give you some of the necessities of home whi...

My family and friends have been to this KOA numerous times and have always found the owner to be rude and condescending. It makes us wonder why he has a Kampground when it seems like he doesn't like or enjoy children.
As others have written, five minutes after 11 is too late and whispering is too loud. We will not be back, Renfrew KOA is just as close and owners are marvelous. Kids can easily adapt and enjoy whatever amenities they are given.

Having been to other KOAs with similar amenities but less than helpful hosts, what struck me about this one was how exceptionally friendly the hosts were. We had to change our reservation and when I called, they were as friendly as could be - and did not us the expected change fee. When we arrived, even though there were others waiting, they patiently gave us excellent sight-seeing tips - not once but several times. It was refreshing and fun. The lots were small, but that did not impact the quality of our stay. The internet was dodgy. If we're ever in the area again, this is where we'll stay!
