Called in early said they were booked then yes -no -no so left. Ran after us to stay and they would try to fit us in. There were empty tables all night but we ate eventually and found it all a bit average.Only thing that made it acceptable was the bar staff bright and bubbly
Shame really about the food

Last Saturday the Galphay Inn put on a "local, Yorkshire produce" dinner. It was one of the best meals we have had - excellently sourced local produce along with superb cooking and presentation. It was a sell out, every table taken and everyone enjoying it like us. We can thoroughly recommend this very friendly local Inn.

The Galphay Inn had special event "Proud to be local" last Saturday night. I was not sure what to expect but the general theme of the evening was to highlight locally grown and reared produce, they even had local wine and lager on offer! But we all know that Yorkshire has the best beer in the country and the Gaphay Inn has plenty of that.

it is very rare that I feel compelled to leave a review on anything but this place deserves it. The standard of the food was spot on! We had some friends over from Holland, one of our friends is a butcher by trade and he commented that the meats were top quality and even wanted to know where it came from, which the land lady duly obliged and gave full details. I personally am a veggie and my meal was tasty, well thought out and filling, not something that I can say of most meals I get from a country pub.

The staff were attentive while not being overpowering but fun to deal with, Just regular girls that you would wish to deal with at any meal. Prices were normal for good high end food and night out.

"Proud to be local" - Yes, I am after this night out and meal

We chose this pub restaurant for Sunday lunch on Father's Day.
It is a lovely setting and delightful interior, but the food and service were lacking.
Please give a bit of thought to the extras that don't cost a lot - like butter with the bread, a reasonable portion of vegetables, asking if we would like more drinks.
And if you have run out of something do say so, we wouldn't mind!

Have eaten at The Galphay Inn on numerous occasions. Since taking over the pub in June, the food has greatly improved, there is always a roaring log fire and and a warm welcome. Christmas lunch was delicious!!!!
