This B&B was by far the best of our trip to England. The staff was family friendly, the building is as authentic as you would want without the inconveniences. It is as beautiful as the village in which it sits and provided a storybook breakfast. As you can tell, we loved it!

We spend one enjoyable evening at the Deanery. Our room was on the third floor so the manager helped tote our bags. It was a lovely room, two beds, tea service and a window that opened to look on the beautiful Ripon Cathedral. The bath room was beautiful, modern and spotless with a giant walk-in shower. What ever you do, have the breakfast! I felt like Alice-in-Wonderland. Serene view, lovely table and great food. We felt so welcomed. Only wish we had more time to stay in that luxury.

Room Tip: If you love photography, try to book the third floor room over the office. Fabulous view.

The photos are lovely and I hope to use them! The breakfast shot makes me want to sit down and join in! We ooze history and enjoy the nearness to the Cathedral - I am very glad you enjoyed it too, Alice....

We liked this because it struck the right note between professionalism and friendly family service. Didn't sample the food except for breakfast (which was as good as you'd expect) but the room and general areas were big, tastefully decorated and stylish. Nice people too. Ripon is well worth a visit and this hotel is right in the city without being noisy. Recommended.

Room Tip: 4 poster room overlooks the cathedral which is spectacular when floodlit

I appreciate your comments very much and hope to continue striking the right note..and those bells didn't bother you in your room with a Cathedral view?

My wife and I had been looking forward to our 1 night stay, which was a Christmas present from our daughter! From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the very friendly receptionist, through a fabulous dinner and a comfortable night in our four-poster room, we were certainly not disappointed. This hotel successfully combines comfort, service and fine dining in relaxed, unpretentious surroundings. We will certainly return.

Room Tip: Room 2 at the rear has four-poster, is quiet and overlooks lovely gardens.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding at the en of May. Lovely, old hotel that looks spectacular from the outside and doesn't disappoint inside. The staff are all wonderful, the food is delicious and I would highly recommend. The room we had was lovely and large, with a comfortable bed an a powerful shower with Molton brown toiletries. The garden is beautiful an perfect for kids to run around in. It's an easy walk into the centre and is right next to the beautiful cathedral. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: If you travel with children, room 9 a triple is perfect. They get a full size single bed

We loved welcoming you and I'm glad you all had a good time. The garden is perfect but watch those nettles at the far ends behind the willow trees! I hope we shall welcome you again..

This is an excellent period hotel right next door to Ripon cathedral. If you’re coming by car then you won’t have a problem parking as there’s a nice sized car park. We came on bike as we were doing the Way of the Roses cycle route from Morecambe to Bridlington. Incidentally, if you are doing this cycle ride and are stopping here, Linda (one half of the couple that own and run this hotel) will give you any drink of your choice from the bar in the evening. And don’t worry about the storage of your bikes, they can be kept securely locked in the back part of the hotel.

Being a very old building, this place has retained many of its original old features. If you’re a fan of glass and steel style structures then this might not be for you. But if you’re a fan of creaking floorboards, sloping floors, wooden shutters for curtains and views of Ripon cathedral as well, then this might be the place for you.

Our room was spacious with a good sized bathroom that had a huge bath and shower. The bath was very welcome after a full day of cycling and there are also Molten Brown toiletries to choose from. There are tea and coffee facilities, a TV and free Wi-Fi throughout. There were also a couple of comfortable chairs in which to relax in and a small table and an old ornate fireplace.

Before venturing into town (which is only a few minutes’ walk away), we partook in our free drink at the bar downstairs. The bar is very comfortable room and Linda will keep you engaged in conversation about Ripon and the hotel itself.

Breakfast is taken in a room that had views over the rear garden and you have a choice of fruit and cereals, tea and coffee, toast with a fried breakfast. We were vegetarian and they catered for us without any issues including veggie sausages if you that’s what you want.

Overall I thought the stay here was very comfortable and Linda does a great job with dealing with the guests. The location is ideal for getting into the centre of Ripon where at 9pm every night, the Ripon hornblower blows his horn at the four corners of the obelisk.

Room Tip: A front room gives you views of Ripon cathedral

I thank you for your lovely comments. Most everything creaks around here! I only wish I could welcome more of the intrepid cyclists on The Way of The Roses but weddings often take up our Saturdays. Come back to our town in 2014 for the Grand Depart Tour de Yorkshire!

Staff couldn't do more for you and are very friendly. Lovely hotel, food excellent and superb location.

The gardens are wonderful and the sunny weather just made it even better. Highly recommended.

An easy and pleasant 15 minute stroll to the races too.
