I wanted to book the wonderful Terrace Restaurant for my wife's 70th birthday but on ringing to book found they would be closed on Tuesday, the day of her birthday.
The gentleman who answered said he would speak to the chef to see if they could open specially, as they occasionally do for a special occasion. He telephoned me back very quickly and said the chef would be pleased to do so and the birthday meal was on.
Given the party consisted of only 4 guests we were made to feel very special and very, very welcome.
The meal was excellent and quite unhurried.
As we waited for our starters we were served complimentary,warm,freshly baked rolls and soft butter.
Our starters of Pate with toasted Brioche was creamy and tasteful. Our guests both chose the mixed fish platter which was said repeatedly to be delicious and beautifully cooked.
My wife and I had Beef Bourginon, the beef melting in the mouth and delicious sauce.
We were rather full after this wonderful feast and shared a trio of deserts, followed by tea and coffee.
A bottle of excellent Prosecco and a medium wine topped it all off.
We cannot thank the staff enough for making a memorable birthday even more special.
If ever you visit Ripon do not miss this excellent restaurant.
