My husband and I had a most enjoyable Winter stay of five nights at this lovely hotel.
The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful in particular Ms. Janet Lain.
We were delighted with our large room which was spotlessly clean. The bedding was changed every two days.
On three of our five nights stay, there were large functions with music in the hotel which apparently carried on until 1.00am. I am a light sleeper but neither my husband or I heard anything at all.
The well cooked breakfast was 1st class with an excellent choice of local produce.
The restaurant was only open on Friday and Saturday evenings but the Turf Bar menu was more comprehensive. We ate dinner each evening in the Turf Bar which has a wide range of food to suit all tastes. The meal deals and platter with wine offers are great value for money. The bar and table staff were very efficent and friendly.
I only have two small negative comments which are not complaints but meant to be constructive suggestions.
a) Soap container too far away from the hand basin.
I asked if I could purchase a tablet of soap at the reception but was told they don't have any. I went out and bought one.
b) The four towels were changed each day even though we hadn't used them all.
Perhaps guests should be asked to put towels in the bath that needed changing. It would be more cost effective and more eco friendly and feel sure this would be acceptable to the guests. Many five star hotels use this system.
The Ripon Spa Hotel is in a brilliant situation with easy access to Harrogate. Knaresborough, Thirsk, Pateley Bridge, Borough Bridge and of course the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. A short car journey will take you to the historical City of York
Many thanks to all the staff who ensured that my husband and I had such a comfortable and memorable stay. We shall most certainly be returning to this hotel.

We booked a two night stay with the discounted rate if you ate in. The food was excellent-lots of choice and all freshly made to order.
A lovely building and grounds and bedrooms renovated to a high standard.
The breakfast was outstanding quality.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely town for a short break. The horn blower a must see, and would also recommend Great Northern Wines for an afternoon glass of wine with some olives.
A lovely two day break, would definitely return.

We stayed at this hotel on an overnight business trip and found the hotel to be very agreeable. We were greated by a warm receptionist who gave us a quick and informative check in. The food was of a high standard and fast and there was a bar on site which if I ahd to criticise was the quitest bar I think I have ever been in, to the point where it was awkward to talk, all that was needed was a little bit of background ambience.
The rooms were of a good size, clean and well presented with freshly pressed linen covering a comfortable four poster bed. There was a trouser press, kettle, hairdryer and all the usual bits that you expect to find in a mid range hotel. The only thing that left a little to be desired for was the shower, which was certainly outdated and needed upgrading badly if you didn't want to spend a year washing your hair. There was also wi-fi throughout the whole hotel on an unsecured network so no fussy passwords required. It was my partners business trip so I was able to work from the hotel thanks to the free wi-fi and the next day, when he attended his meeting, the hotel were flexible in allowing me to stay in the room for an extra hour after checkout and remain in the hotel lounge downstairs after checkout to await his return. Breakfast, though not included, was of a good standard, the breakfast room was large and airy with a lovely view out across the grounds. There was a limited cold buffet serving the usual array of cereals and fruit and the hot options made use of fine local ingredients. We order two english breakfasts which were bought to us quickly and tasted very good indeed. Overall we would definately choose to stay here again and were impressed with the hotel.

Room Tip: Watch out for functions, they can get a little loud and try and get a room overlooking the grounds

We stayed in a recently modernised room which was very stylish, practical and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast featured tasty local produce. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We particularly liked the seasonal decorations on each floor. We have already recommended the hotel to friends.

I took my 103 year old friend out for lunch at The Ripon Spa Hotel, on the recommendation of staff at her Ripon care home (I had never visited Ripon before). The bar and restaurant staff were fantastically thoughtful, helpful, caring and patient - my friend can only walk and eat very slowly. The other diners were also very helpful. The atmosphere was very relaxing and most enjoyable and the meals we chose were good quality and value. I would definitely recommend the hotel restaurant.

Perfect location as we were meeting up with old freinds in Ripon. Only a few minutes walk to the market place. Staff were really helpful and made you feel most welcome. Lift was out of order upon our arrival but the staff offered to carry our luggage up to our room. The lift was repaired later the same day.The bonus, cream on the cake, was the fact that our room had a four poster bed (maybe the bridal suite?). Pity the weather stopped us from inspecting the Hotel's gardens. We had a wonderful evening meal in the Turf bar, open fire made it quite cosy. Advise you to reserve a table because the bar is very popular for dining.Breakfast made a perfect start to the day, although it was hot buffet style, everything was hot and fresh. Will definatly stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: Room 1 had a four poster bed and although the bay window overlooked the front car park, no road nois...
