This inn was absolutely amazing. The friendliest people. The rooms were spacious. A couch in the room is an added bonus. Can actually sit to watch tv in the evening instead of having to lay on the bed, as with most other B & B's. Pub food was lovely, but be aware the size of the meals is HUGE! A family run business, but the family doesn't stop at people. Other family members are two lovely dogs, a couple of cats, at least one horse, several ducks, including the most gorgeous babies. And last, but not least, Florence. What can you say about a Kune Kune pig? Adorable? Kind of, in her own way. Unique? Definitely! Only a few minutes drive in any direction from most of Cornwall's major draw cards.

We stayed at The Crooked Inn for three nights for a long weekend, upon arrival we checked into our room which was room 4. The room looked exactly like the picture on the website and was clean and comfortable with an en suite shower room. The bed was comfortable but had a very soft mattress; other than that the room was great. The staff were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The courtyard was a great place to have a few drinks and was made even better by the numerous animals wandering around, which included dogs, a large pig, geese, ducks a horse and cats. We ate in the pub on the Friday and Sunday night and had breakfast every morning. The food was fantastic, fresh and home cooked with lots of variety, we would definatly recommend staying and eating at The Crooked Inn. This was a great place to stay if you want to explore the local area and would recommend a visit to the towns of Looe, Fowey and Polperro. We however, would have loved to have stayed at one of the towns on an evening as it is somewhere that you have to drive to, so if you have an extra few days and don't fancy the drive these would be a nice place to stay, they all have lovely beaches, shops and pubs.

I would agree with several other reviews have noted the bar and evening meals are good but what once was a lovely place to stay now needs a serious face lift. Internet pictures might give an impression that is not met in reality. Convenient yes but AA 4 Stars no.

Had stayed in this B & B during the May bank holiday. Must admit that the breakfast and dinner was good however the room needs a facelift. They look dated, old and needs refurbishment. Location is a added advantage and children's play area with farm animals is an added plus.

I have stayed at the Crooked Inn many times over recent years. If need to stay near Plymouth then I need to stay at the Crooked Inn.....
If you like the clinical approach of Premier Inns (use them all the time) you might find the Crooked Inn a little too different.

If you like good beer, good food, comfortable beds, beautiful scenery and a little but of quirkiness head for here. Mind the geese, don't feed the horses and whatever you do make sure the pig doesn't get in your room.........

Our room was nothing like the website images and description. Room Number One is very tired and doesnt deserve the usual room charge like the other rooms. It does have a nice telly and the shower is ok and the room is bright, has great central heating and is quite large and quiet. Definitely take your own soap/shower gel as theirs is bog standard and quite small-sized for two adults' use of twice a day. Again, for the price they charge you should get decent toiletries or double the amount.
The Silent Night mattress bed is really hard and uncomfortable even though the manager insisted it was a ViSpring....huge difference there. He even told me it cost £1000. I think it fair that I requested a deduction from the bill but because I hadnt immediately complained he said no but we were offered a round of drinks and a bottle of wine which is a lovely gesture but its still unfair to not make clear when making a booking that all the rooms havent yet been updated to reflect the pics on their website . The website is totally misleading on that score.
The food was very good, not amazing. The portions are big and the bar is cosey and is also popular with local bar flys so you do feel slightly like you stick out like a sore thumb. Its great if you have a dog as they welcome pets. The staff are very friendly which makes you feel welcomed though I find that its how management deal with a problem that really shows their true nature. In this case I feel we were screwed over due to the room not looking like what I'd booked 6 months previously. It wouldve been a decent gesture to offer a discount but they didnt. Room Number 1 is worth £70-75 per night in its state as it is now.
So disappointing.

Room Tip: Be careful when you book that you know what youre getting or you will feel cheated and over-charged...
