The bridges are amazing but couldnt find any information on them ? Lots of pubs ( The Union) is a fab local pub, good live music at night sometimes, great atmoshere and worth visiting to look at the murial on the wall of the pub! No cafes !.......very dissapointing and no local gift shop or museum ........ shame seeing there is so much history in the town ! Nice stop off , but could be so much better and interesting !!!!!! Shame .......come on town council do something about it ????

What a superb location, with good views and historic buildings. well worth a visit to see the famous union jack pub and the waterside scenes of the bridges. There is even a small playground, public toilets and places to get a drink. Only downside is the area is a bit untidy and grubby in places and needs more attention to tackling this.

I've always enjoyed a walk down on Saltash's waterside; it might not be as pretty as Mevagissey or Polperro, but it has its own charm and is a great place to watch the movements on the river as well as of course, unparalleled views of both the Tamar Bridges.

If you have children, you will invariably find some swans and ducks to feed, and if the day is cold and blowy, then either of the pubs here offers a warm retreat. Of course, it is still about the bridges, which dominate the skyline and this allows you, from ground level, to appreciate the magnificent works of engineering that built them both, albeit a century apart.

My day here was indeed cold and wintry, but I had never had the chance to view the bridges from beneath so a steady stroll along the waterside allowed me to see them from various view points, with the promise of a pint at the end of the walk a welcoming incentive.

Lots of little boats line the foreshore and of course, with the bridges dominating the skyline, it's easy to forget that a ferry crossing existed in Saltash for centuries. It's quiet and peaceful, most of the large shipping movements occur further downstream and even the steady flow of traffic across the road bridge is reduced to a barely audible hum. Brunel's iconic railway bridge still carries the main line across the Tamar from Plymouth to Saltash and every so often, a train slowly creeps across this amazing structure, a surreal image of a 21st century High Speed Train crossing a mid 19th century bridge at crawling speed due to the bridge's sharply angled approaches at either end.

A lovely spot to spend an hour or two.

l was there last week and most weeks,l used to live there, even in winter you can drive down underneath the 2 bridges and sit in your car, amazing views of the River Tamar, there are still a couple of pubs down there and plenty of seats in the summer and loads of swans to feed.very relaxing on a nice sunny day or in a car when cold.

An easy place to chill out on a sunny evening. There's a couple of decent pubs and a small beach with boats and swans etc etc. Don't expect anything grand apart from the Tamar bridges it's not that sort of place and make sure you go on a sunny day as inclement weather can make the place a bit brisk and bleak.....has a small play park for the kids......it's also the venue for Saltash's annual regatta.
