A fabulous bit of Cod and so huge too. The chips were homemade and fried perfectly. Great real ale also. The host do their best to make even strangers welcome and are so friendly.

We arrived at 1:25pm for Sunday lunch, with an unconfirmed booking.
Despite being exceedingly busy with a party of 27 guests, who had just arrived - and being told the kitchen may not be accepting any more orders - we were seated and our orders were taken.
We sat in the conservatory admiring the view of the river on one side, and watching the meercats across the road on the other side - expecting to have to wait while the party of 27 were served.
Our meal was served surpisingly quickly, under the circumstances. Staff were attentive, unflustered, curteous, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent!!
I am a vegetarian, and ordered the roast nut loaf (roast dinner), my husband and father-in-law ordered the roast beef. We all had Baily's cheesecake to follow. We could not fault our meals and were so impressed - we can't wait for an excuse to go again!
After our meal, we went across the road to see all the animals. What a delight!
If you are expecting an adventure theme park - this is not the place for you.
What it is, is an ingenious use of an otherwise wasted slope of land, to accomodate a variety of animals and birds in as close to their natural habitat as is possible. Many of the animals have been 'rescued', and it is obvious that they are well cared for here.I absolutely loved watching the baby meercats and could have sat there for hours watching them play and dig. What a delight!
We have visited the animals before and it was lovely to see the new additions and improvements they have made.
We were really glad we decided to eat there on Sunday, too!
Looking forward to visiting again before too long
Thank you :-)

We were staying at the nearby Crylla Cottages( which are excellent ) we had lunch at the Notter Bridge Inn which was very good. We decided to book for our whole party of 16 for the Saturday night, the service and food could not have been better. We would recommend the Inn to anybody.
Only one small complaint my wife wanted chips with her lamp shank, and she was told the chief would not alter the menu, so she had steak instead but she really fancied the lamb. Will visit again when in the area.

Simple review! reviewer clearly like slagging off local places and only recently?

In reply to your review -

Steak we would only refuse to cook a blue steak, this is a personal choice as most people who ask for a blue steak actually will complain that its raw! and in fact do not understand the meaning. So as a blanket rule we do not serve blue steaks. But then I dont feel thats a reason to complain.

Never got all on menu? Everything is prepare fresh and most items cooked to order, there is no way of knowing what people will order if we didnt run out of things how would it ever be FRESH!!!!!

If you want something gaurenteed for the price you are clearly seeking may I suggest a trip to TESCO'S FROZEN DEPARTMENT.
