My partner and I have just spent 4 nights at Smeaton Farm. Well! What can I say?! First impression was "wow"! A truly beautiful location. The welcome we received was genuinely warm and friendly; the accommodation was spotless (and the bed extremely comfortable - so much so that we were late for breakfast on 3 occasions!) and talking about the breakfast - superb! Sarah kindly recommended local restaurants for us to try out for our evening meals; Megan recommended places to visit - and even gave us a map to take on our travels with us (very useful!) and Richard took the time to chat about the farm and farming in general which I found fascinating (my partner is from an agricultural background - so he was in his element!). The family could not have been more accommodating (in every sense)! Thank you all for making our stay simply perfect! We'll be back!

Directions to the farm were clear and we found it easily. A warm and friendly welcome awaited us and a tour of siting and dining room, followed by our bedrooms. Large airy rooms with great views had comfortable beds, good ensuites with good toiletries, and tea/coffee making tray. The furniture is not modern, but is in keeping with the house. The breakfasts were excellent, a choice of traditional cooked or continental, and the fresh fruit salad was a good mix of all fresh fruit. The night was very quiet, but the cockerel did like to let guests know it was time to get up! I look forward to returning to Cornwall and this lovely friendly farm bed and breakfast.

As I read through the other reviews of smeaton farm I really hope that we just were there at a bad time, as all the reviews have spoken about how friendly the owners were. On our arrival my husband and I were not treated with a friendly welcome, neither were our friends who arrived a couple of hours later. As the weekend progressed she did become more warm to us , however I would say this is the worst place that we have ever stayed for service. The rooms were lovely and well maintained, the breakfasts were good and the location perfect for us.

We drove down from London, spent 3 nights at Smeaton Farm. Of course it is a beautiful place to stay, and our hosts were the most kind people we met during our stay in the UK. The house is is a very nice old farmhouse, but renovated in a stylish way. Breakfast is just awesome! Mentality of the farm is quite positive: consume what you need - talking about food or electricity as well. Cornwall is beautiful, and our host Richard gave us some very good inner information on what to visit. I hope we'll return soon.

Room Tip: For a nice view pick "weeping ash".

The service was friendly and accommodating.
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with good wash/shower facilities.
The location was nice, with really nice scenery around with place to go for a walk nearby, is only about half an hour away from the beach and Plymouth.
I would recommend it to friends and family and would stay there again myself.

Enjoyable week celebrating our daughters 2nd birthday. This is very off the beaten track so detailed instructions are needed or a satnav (especially driving at night) Breakfast is first rate and you can buy some very nice farm meat from here.
