We stopped off to visit the Mill thinking that it was an up and running facility: we should have done our research better. On arrival, we were directed to the shop to buy our entrance tickets only to be told that ' the machinery was not in operation as it was undergoing maintenance but we could still have a tour at a reduced price'. We decided not to do so but visited the shop to view the flour on sale. Staff were filling bags and I innocently asked a question about milling only to be told ' there has been no milling here for over 20 years. The flour comes from other mills'.
In sum, even allowing for the ongoing maintenance, this experience was something of a disappointment. The site is also somewhat tired looking.
