Just spent 2 lovely nights at glendon with my partner and our 5 month old baby. We stayed in the family room and it was beautiful. The owners greeted us to a warm welcome with tea and cake. The breakfast was perfect we can recommend the eggs benedict. The owners were very hospitable throughout and we would love to stay here again. We loved the decor of the house and our view of the church was magic. X

We were travelling as a family of 2 adults, and a 2yo and 4yo, and we stayed in the Family room. It was so wonderful to be able to have just a little more space for our kids to play and sleep, and they appreciated the toys and books as well.
We arrived late afternoon, and honestly I don't think that the owners could have done more to accomodate us. We have a lactose intolerant child, and they made a special trip to the supermarket to make sure that she had milk for her bottle. On top of this, each morning for breakfast they made my daughter her favorite breakfast - a banana smoothie with lactose free milk - and it just made for the smoothest start to the day for us all. They accomodated the children wonderfully at breakfast - they had child sized cutlery, plastic ware, a high chair, and my son loved ordering his eggs whichever way his little heart desired! Breakfast really was a joy.
The rooms were absolutely spotless. The beds supremely comfortable. The shower and bath were lovely, with plenty of hot water available. The location is fabulous, a short walk through the park to a kids playground, a pond where we could feed the ducks, a great kid friendly cafe, and a few restaurants and antique stores.
On our third day there, they even did three loads of washing for us!
It really was just a dream come true stay for us. I wish I could give it more stars!
I hope to go back one day!

Room Tip: If you're travelling with kids, choose the family room!

Thank you for your lovely review. We are really pleased you enjoyed staying with us. We appreciate that when travelling, especially with children, specific dietary needs can be a little more difficult to manage so try to help where we can. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in England and mainland Europe.

Wow! This place is special. We stayed here with our two children aged 11 and 13 years, so we all appreciated the family room having an adjoining room rather than being altogether. Bunk beds a good size for them. It was the children's first experience of a B& B and we had to keep telling them that what they were experiencing was not the norm! The house is beautifully decorated with a luxurious, warm feel. A great welcome from the owners - the tea and cake in the very comfortable sitting room was most appreciated coming in from the wet and cold Peak District! Great to have a quiet fridge in the room with fresh milk too! Within easy walking distance to good restaurants/ Matlock as well as easy driving to nearby attractions. The beds very comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the owners extremely friendly and helpful. Only downside, all the family slept well apart from me who being a light sleeper was a little disturbed with the church clock through the night. Thinking that would only effect the back room as other rooms are the other side of the house. In summary would definately recommend, wished we could have stayed longer.

Thank you for your feedback. It is very pleasing to know you felt welcomed and would have happily stayed longer. I am glad you enjoyed the family room and hope the church clock was too much of a dstraction.

This is an exceptional guest house, run just how a B&B should be. Beautiful historic house with masses of original features, very tastefully restored with period wallpaper and much style. Good location with easy parking on one side of the house, and a lovely walk across a river and park to an attractive church on the other side. Within easy reach of a couple of typical Derbyshire pubs and a few restaurants in the town (we ate at a Thai place, which served good quality food with good service, albeit not the cheapest meal out). Hospitality, service and cleanliness were 'spot on,' as was the warmth and comfort. The breakfast was great, both in terms of choice (fresh fruit through to eggs Benedict and a great full English) and execution. All in all, this is a very classy B&B without being the least bit pretentious, and it deserves to do very well. Excellent pricing as well. Thank you and we'll be back!

We stayed here for one night after our wedding. We were greeted with tea and delicious warm banana and walnut loaf. Every detail has been thought of. Even real milk in the fridge and snacks priced for our convenience not profit. The decor is just lovely. The whole b&b has been sympathetically restored under the new management. Breakfast was yummy: i chose thick cut bacon and really nice sausages, fresh tomatoes, portobello mushroom and poached eggs. Will definitely come back!

We arrived tired and stressed to such a warm welcome - and tea and cake - we immediately felt at home. Glendon was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated - INCREDIBLE wallpapering - I'd dare anyone to see the joins! Our bed was massive, and our shower was huge. There was chocolate and FRESH milk in our room fridge - a lovely touch. The guest lounge proved invaluable for me (bit of an insomniac) and I was even provided with a fleecy blanket to keep me warm and cosy while I sat in there during the early hours of the morning. SO thoughtful! Our hosts had the right balance of attentive but not intrusive service, which put us at ease. I'm a really fussy customer, but I can't fault Glendon at all. We're already looking to plan our next visit.

We chose this location as a base for exploring the peak district over the weekend and we made a great choice. The bnb is located just off the M1 and it has a nice pub closeby, a petrol station, a park and a church within walking distance, and a coop a short drive away. The entrance was decorated with pumpkins and it make the whole house quite homey. The service is fantastic, we arrived slightly later than the expected time and it was not a problem. We booked the four poster bed which overlooked the church and the park, it was beautiful and there are bells every morning.. not intrusive but it gives mornings a nice towny feel. These are also the view you get from the breakfast room. The room was very clean and had a hairdryer, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, ipod dock, nice toiletries and everything seemed new especially the towels, very fluffy. For breakfast they have fruits, yoghurts and cereals and the menu has the traditional dishes like english breakfast, eggs benedict to blueberry pancakes. It is a short drive to Chatsworth House.
