Riverbank Guest House
Ranked #4 of 53 Matlock B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

Only stayed for a 2 night break and found it to be perfectly adequate.
The Owners and staff are exceptional.
The Location and garden as other reviewers have said is great.
The Room was comfy enough if just a little on the small side.
The Breakfast was well cooked and had plenty of options including local Derbyshire pancakes which was new to me.
Overall a little bit pricey but I don't own a huge house in a prime area of Matlock to pay the upkeep on!

We had never been to Derbyshire and Riverbank looked ideal and it certainly was. Only a bus ride from Chatsworth too. A peaceful backwater, but just off the A6 and near restaurants and the railway. Good breakfasts too!

I planned a surprise weekend for my partners birthday and couldn't have found a nicer place. I had asked for a room with a view and that is what we got overlooking the beautiful gardens. I asked for them to suggest nice places to eat and the restaurants were fabulous and within walking distance. This lovely B & B is so conveniently located for the town. Our room was very comfortable with a great double shower! The breakfast was really good with great service. They even bought in black pudding for my partner as I had requested it as a birthday breakfast treat and it arrived with a lit candle! We would highly recommend this little gem...thankyou

Room Tip: Garden view was lovely

This is a small but charming b&b in the centre of Matlock. Even though it is very close to the town centre, it is still fairly quiet.

The owners could not be more friendly and helpful. The service was wonderful. There is so much choice for breakfast that I think even a fussy eater could easily be catered for. We were given enough attention to ensure that we had everything we wanted for breakfast (you order via a tick box form which you leave in reception) and whether we wanted more of anything else. However, the attention wasn't intrusive, just very helpful.

It was a short stay for us so we didn't go into the garden but having seen it from our room window, it's very well kept and the River Derwent(?) runs along the bottom. Oh, and there is a trampoline for those feeling adventurous!!

They have a lot of information in reception about local attractions but will happily give you advice on suitability.

I would recommend this guest house. There is just one 'however', and that is, for people with limited mobility, you would need to call before booking as the stairs are steep and you would really need to be on the first floor.

Away on business but so much nicer than staying in a hotel. Breakfast fantastic and made to feel very welcome. Rooms are comfortable and the atmosphere relaxed. Very quiet but within 60 seconds of excellent pubs and restaurants. Easy walking distance from the station. Thankyou. Adrian.

We stayed two nights at Riverbank as part of our friend's wedding party in June. We were completely overwhelmed by the amazing hospitality shown by the hosts Jennie and Graham - nothing was too much trouble for them! Jennie even took great photos of the wedding guests. They were so helpful to everyone and made our stay perfect.

Our room was very comfortable with everything we could need and a great choice of pillows. The garden is lovely and well kept, and lovely for sitting in. Breakfast was delicious and served in good time despite an almost full house.

The B&B is in a quiet location, but still only a few steps away from the center of the town, including its restaurants, bars and pubs, and it's only 5mins walk from the train station. The area is of course gorgeous, right in the peak district with fabulous scenery.

I looked at many places in an effort to find the right place to stay for the weekend. Riverbank was ideal. Wonderful location on the river. Ideal for walking to all the local amenities. We received a warm welcome on arrival and wonderful service throughout the weekend.

The room was clean and tidy and had all we needed. The breakfast was tasty and set myself and my partner up for the day. Our hosts were full of very useful advice about the shops, restaurants and locality.

Room Tip: If you plan on eating at one of the nearby restaurants make sure to book in advance as the 2 we went...
