“Keep this a secret!”
Reviewed December 6, 2012 for a stay in November 2012

Please don't all go at once otherwise we won't be able to get a room! This house is brilliant for a family stay. We were 12 of mixed ages and the house works in so many ways. It the most extensively equipped house you could wish to stay in. Rooms are lovely and cosy, bathrooms excellent, the kitchen most cooks would take home with them. We felt very much at "home" and there were many thoughtful products left for us when we arrived, not just milk and butter but a lovely cake and chocolates for the children too. We will be back! First class, thank you.

“Beautiful house, perfect location!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have just returned from a long weekend at Derwent House in a group of 10 and we miss it already! The house is stunning and stylish with a huge and very well equipped kitchen. Nearly all the rooms have en suites and they are each individually decorated to a very high standard. The dining room was perfect for us all to sit down together and the owners even let us use their gas BBQ on one night which was a lovely touch. The location is great and very easy to wander around Matlock, we also went for a walk to Derwent Valleymand vusited Bakewell. We are already planning our next stay so would definitely recommend staying here for a big group of friends or family getaway!

“A brilliant house, elegant, comfortable and yet still homely.”
Reviewed May 20, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

The owners of the house made us feel very welcome and were happy to answer any of our questions about the area. The house is in a peaceful location opposite a park. Step inside and you are in for a treat. The house is beautifully furnished and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail is amazing from beautiful flowers to fluffy towels and a well equiped kitchen. We have stayed in many locations in the UK but this house will be difficult to beat! Finally Matlock and the surrounding area is a haven for those who like walking. The choice of walks is endless from gentle rolling countryside to rugged hills. Derwent house is a brilliant place to stay!

“Perfect for Family get-together”
Reviewed March 18, 2012 for a stay in August 2011

August 2011 was our 2nd visit to Derwent House and we are booked in again for October 2012. This is a perfect location for us meet up as a family and the accommodation is superb. plenty of room, beautifully decorated and the the fact that you can book self-catering accommodation for a long weekend is such a bonus. The house is in a lovely area and the children enjoyed the 'Splishy-spashy' park next door. We didn't eat out as the dining facilities in the house are second to none and we loved sitting around the dining table. Before discovering Derwent House we had our annual reunion in the various parts of the UK in which we live-not again, it's Matlock every year from now on!

“Amazing, beautiful and a treasure”
Reviewed February 26, 2012 for a stay in February 2012

Derwent House is as beautiful inside as it's idyllic surroundings. All the rooms are wonderfully decorated , well sized and comfortable. The photosgraphs do not do this house justice at all. The kitchen is amazing - I wish I had one like it at home, and is full of anything you may need throughout your stay. The bathroom (bath) is devine and there was always more than enough hot water to keep us 12 girls in supply.

The weekend we stayed was perfect for so many reasons but I am sure Derwent House itself played a significant part in that. I was sad to have the weekend come to an end, and I would highly recommend that anyone stay in this glorious house.

Also the owners were fantastic, ensuring the house has anything you may need - maps, books, CDs etc as well as providing information on the house and it's features itself. Also, I left something behind after my stay, luckily I contacted the owner who was fantastic and got the item back to me. Fantastic service and a touch I really appreciated.

Thank you to all involved at Derwent House, a lovely weekend that 12 girls will treasure!

“The Most Wonderful Christmas Ever”
Reviewed January 5, 2012 for a stay in December 2011

If there was a 10 star rating this house and it's owners would get it. We were greeted so warmly by Damien. The fire was on in the lounge, champagne in the fridge and other supplies, huge tin of biscuits and sweets and my favourite of all Moulton Brown in every bathroom. The house is decorated so tastefully and comfortably and very well equipped. Every room had fresh flowers and the Christmas decorations were simply lovely. Derwent House has a lovely ambiance and warm home away from home feeling, with plenty of room for 11 of us. The kitchen was a hive of activity with any one who cooked able to have company at the same time too. With two bedrooms having a TV in if the youngsters wanted to play their games or watch a different film it was great. Matlock town is a 5 minute walk from the house and you just have to go to Bakewell and have a real Bakewell Pudding (I brought six back for the office!!). We ate at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn, a bit of a trek but if you are out for the day well worth a visit, but be warned the portions are huge!! We also ate at the Wetherspoons in the town which was alright for a quick cheap meal out, they had some really nice ales on Thornbridge Jaipur is one not to miss. Some of the family went on walks to Matlock Bath and up on the cliffs above Matlock Bath. Otyhers went to the museum in Matlock Bath. The rest of the time was enjoyed relaxing in our wonderful home away from home having a most wonderful Christmas and we would definately come back here again. Thank you Derwent House you made our Christmas.
