If anyone is thinking of staying here - then don't. After decades of travelling and staying at various B&Bs, The Beeches was diabolical. The worst thing was the landlady tapping on our door about 8pm on our second night and asking my husband whether he would mind if there was a bit of a band practice until 10pm in the basement. He was put on the spot but agreed because he's just a very nice man and thought we would not hear much - but then the cacophony started. You could not call it music and it lifted the rafters to the extent there was an exodus from the premises. This woman did not even have the sense to realise that this could cause distress to her residents and wasn't something to which her guests should be exposed. When I raised this with her the following morning she said, "Well, you should go out in the evening." That comment alone sums up her attitude. Apart from that our stay started out badly from the beginning, with her saying, "Oh you'll be sharing a bathroom”, followed by showing us the kettle and refreshments in the wardrobe as there was no room in the room, no hot bath water, inappropriate coat hangers, no milk one day, no remote control; she said her guests 'pinched' the remotes. On the internet it seemed a nice place to stay, but don't be fooled - the only nice thing was the breakfast, everything else ranged from disappointing to distressing. Needless to say we cut our stay short and our holiday was ruined by this landlady’s inconsiderate behaviour and inexperience.
