“Wonderful cottage in perfect walking location”
Reviewed May 20, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The cottage is in the beautiful village of Sheldon. We had 3 days of walking without using the car - such is the location. Bakewell is close by if 'bright lights' are needed. Rosemary is a wonderful host ensuring you are everything you need & helping to try & resolve the fluctuating wifi signal (thanks BT!). Great 'extras' such as the dog bed which Bromley wanted to take home with him! We'll be back.

“Peaceful, spacious cottage in great location”
Reviewed May 5, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had a lovely long weekend at 'The Old End'. It's in a great location, with plenty scenic walks and sights from Sheldon or nearby. The cottage is very well equipped, warm and thoughtfully laid out. We had a great dinner at The Packhorse Inn, a few miles away - there's also plenty other options in the area. It all added up to a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

“Charming spot, perfectly located”
Reviewed April 12, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This was our first trip to the Peak district...we are still wondering why it took us so long. Sheldon is a lovely, quiet little village and Rosemary's cottage a great intro to the area.
We really appreciated the detailed and small personal touches, from the extremely well stocked kitchen and the tremendous collection of games to the vast collection of pamphlets and local info (so we had a good chuckle when we could not find any matches to start the fire..."it has everything else" :).
The cottage is friendly and a little quirky - we instantly named the main bedroom the Hobbit room with its ~4ft door!
This is a small, comfortable spot to eat and rest between roaming the countryside. if you're looking for a swish spot with all the mod cons, big comfortable beds and plenty of space, you'll need to book a much more lavish (and expensive) spot.

Thank you for your lovely review, we will certainly be naming it the hobbit bedroom from now on! We are so pleased you enjoyed this area and our quirky cottage. The matches and electric fire lighter were in the log box in the hallway should you come to visit us again, which we hope you will do soon. Kind regards Rosemary

“Lovely character cottage”
Reviewed April 11, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This was an excellent base for exploring the Peak District, and the local walks recommended by Rosemary proved a really good introduction to the Peak District scenery. The cottage was full of character and the village pub well worth a visit. Nothing to fault at all, we had a great weekend!

“Perfect weekend”

Just come back from this quaint little cottage in Sheldon. The cottage was comfy with everything you could need.
The front garden was perfect for our little dog as it was enclosed and escape proof. There were excellent walks around the area from the cottage. We visited Magpie mines several times usually seeing no other people.
The local pub was friendly and good value.
The area is full of places to see. Bakewell is a must and Haddon Hall.
The weather was good when we stayed so most of our time we spend walking the lovely Derbyshire countryside.
