“Great traditional inn. Loved it!”

This is a lovely old pub with friendly service and delicious food. On cold days they have an open fire to warm up beside. An added bonus for dog walkers in the area as dogs are allowed in the bar and there are complimentary biscuits for them! We will certainly making a return visit after today's visit. I would definitely recommend this pub.

We visited the Castle in between Christmas and new year whist staying in Bakewell after lots of recommendations, what a mistake!!!. The restaurant was very busy we ordered nachos to share as as starter with sausage and mash, belly pork, chicken tikka masala and a French onion soup. 40 minutes later we were informed that the belly pork was no longer available, so a lamb shank was ordered a following 20 minutes later we were then informed that the lamb shank and sausages were no longer available, we had now waited a full 60 mins no starter and no food, we then ordered a scampi and a salmon what could go wrong ??? Food arrived all together starters and main course, chicken tikka contained two pieces of chicken, scampi was hard and my salmon was RAW, !!!! Decided not to reorder anything else and was reimbursed for the salmon.
Only positive point was PETER the waiter he was apologetic and professional a real asset to that establishment

We have dined here on a couple of occasions and both times the food was really good. The staff are really friendly and helpful but this place is really busy and the staff are rushed off their feet, they probably could have done with a couple more staff. That said, we couldn't fault the place. Food was very well cooked, generous portions, and good value for money. Tapas was excellent and French onion soup was delicious! Fish and chips were very generous portions. All in all a good experience , twice!

Visited over last weekend with my husband. Was recommended by our B&B hosts. Warm welcome given to us by friendly staff. Excellent choice of menu and good quality. Prices were very reasonable. First evening chose the two meals for £9.99 - plenty of food and thoroughly enjoyed it. Second night we chose from the individual menu - again served by friendly and welcoming staff. Good choice of cask ales and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Recommended by our B&B and after checking out a few other options during the day we returned in the evening to the Castle Inn and were received by friendly welcoming staff. We chose the Belly Pork and the Steak, both were done to perfection and the beer was well kept. A good bar to both eat and drink at. Well done!!

This Hotel (it should be called the Castle Hotel, not Inn) has been part of Bakewell for well over a Century. It offers good beer, nice food, a nice atmosphere, and children and dogs are welcome. The sizzling dishes are particularly nice. What more can you ask for?
