“Dogs allowed”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Popped in for a swift pint oneday to get out of the rain, we had noticed when walking past a few days earlier that dogs were also allowed in.
Nicely decorated and friendly staff, my only gripe was we sat out of the way of people eating as we had our dog with us but were asked (nicely) if we would mind moving as altho dogs are allowed they are not allowed in the lower carpeted area. There wasnt an issue in moving but maybe a little signage saying this would help (unless i missed it)

Stopped here for a quick bite and found the food was great value for the money. It being a Sunday, I plumped for the roast and was served a decent portion and a good mix of veg. Service was prompt and friendly. Thanks.

We booked this not really knowing were we were going, as we have a dog (puppy) it can be quite limiting to were you go. We really could have not booked a better place to stay, very dog friendly, the room was above a set of garages (they only have four rooms) the room and bathroom was in need of an update to be honest, but was very clean and of a good size room 3 was our room and had a staircase from the outside if you wanted to use it which was brilliant for the dog.The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had all our meals on site the week we were there and they were all great and you had a good choice. We would love to go back!

We have just had a weekend in The castle inn. Overall value for bed and breakfast was excellent (£80 per couple) the breakfast is fabulous , full English with no grease , local produce and cooked to perfection. The castle is very well situated at the main bridge as you enter this great little market town. The rooms are good with rooms 1,2, and 3 being in my opinion the best. The staff are very friendly and helpful. (free Carprk at the rear of the Inn also will save you £10 in parking fee).

Do not stay here if you have any sort of standards!!! The rooms are disgusting, dirty, old fashioned and tiny, I stayed in the room on the top floor last door on the right (4) I think it was, and the view was a brick wall with a window into the kitchens, whole experience not nice and he entrance to the rooms is a dark stairwell that looks like a scruffy entrance to some seedy nightclub, strange really as the pub is lovely and very popular

We have just returned home from the Castle Inn and can honestly say we had a great time. The pub is situated well for visiting the whole of peak district. We were welcomed by Pete who throughout our stay was happy efficient and charm itself. No task was too much trouble. We wouldn't hesitate to return. The food was good value and of a good standard offering menu deals on different nights. It was quite busy but not over crowded with tourists and locals. The rooms were a little tired particularly the bathroom however they were clean and a good size with everything we needed. The pub is in Bakewell town which is delightful with many shops and other pubs and cafes

We booked this accomodation puely by asking tourist info for phone numbers for Pubs. We rang and managed to get a room for 1 night. When we got to Bakewell we had actually had a meal there last year with our dog with us ( found out you cantake dogs with you in the rooms handy for next time ) The staff were very friendly & welcoming, the room was clean but felt the bathroom could do with a make over but was clean . The food was very good reasonably priced same as the drinks.Would definately go back and take our dog with us. Recommed this as a nice plce to stay.

Room Tip: Dog friendly
