We just stayed here on a special rate while they re-fit the pub below - the rooms are being re-done next. The location is excellent and includes parking which would otherwise be very tricky for Bakewell. The pub / restaurant looks like it will be fantastic once re-opened (soon I think). The room was very big and comfortable - in good condition so I can only assume that once re-decorated they will be amazing! The manager was really friendly and helpful (despite being in the middle of the pub renovations). I could imagine this being the best inn in Bakewell fairly soon - hope it turns out as well as expected.

Ensuite bathroom (floor / fittings) a little more tired than the bedroom but still decent. Had problems with shower when room next door was using theirs at the same time but assume this will be fixed at re-fit anyway.

We decided to stop off for the night as we drove by & were glad we did. Once we got settled into our basic but good sized room, we took advantage of the congenial pub downstairs. The beer was cold, the atmosphere friendly and we felt very content to be there..

All the rooms are upstairs with no lift, so be prepared to haul up your bags, but I found them to be clean, if a bit spartan. The tea pot in the room was a pleasant surprise in a basic, but comfortable room.

Breakfast was served downstairs in the morning (pre-ordered the evening before) and was ample & tasty.

This is a basic, nice place to spend a night or two and enjoy yourself while spending the money you save elsewhere. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Brilliant! I have literally just returned home today and couldn't wait to write a review for this hotel, mainly due to the huge amount of bad reviews I read beforehand which lead me to feel extremely nervous about my choice of hotel.

Couldn't fault anything. The room was ready early and in a lovely condition, no cobwebs in the bathroom (I checked!) as suggested in earlier reviews. Nice comfortable and clean bad, good stock of tea and coffee and outstanding amounts of clothing storage!

The staff were extremely friendly and could not have been any more helpful. We were made to feel very welcome, and checked up on in the middle of our holiday to make sure we were having a good stay and didn't need anything.

Breakfast was fantastic. Had the entire pub to ourselves and were treated like royalty.

Will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone. Lovely hotel!

Had a wonderful weekend here, despite the constant wind and rain! Staff are very helpful and friendly, the room was a good size, clean bathroom, comfortable bed, good selection of "where to go/things to do" brochures. Breakfast was excellent, very tasty. Bar prices the cheapest we found in town. Overall, can't really fault it for the money, excellent value and would have no hesitation in booking in here again when we go to Bakewell next.

My family decided to have a meal at the Castle Inn to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We were a party of 11, including teenagers and 2 small children and when I phoned up to make the booking the gentleman to whom I spoke was very helpful and welcoming. When we arrived the table was all set out, complete with 2 high chairs for the little ones and we were greeted in a friendly fashion. The menu had something for everyone and on request, a special salad was made for my husband. We were all well pleased with our meal-no easy achievement for such a mixed group, and with the service and we would recommend the restaurant to everyone.

Stayed here for two nights, great location for exploring the area. Food in pub good & reasonably priced. Rooms are a good size, bed not quite a double, linen clean & crisp but no valance. Bathroom not cleaned cobwebs on ceiling, shower curtain filthy. tile grouting unsightly. Cleaning standards leave a lot to be desired. would not recomend due to poor cleanliness & one bath towel between two. And only four channels on the telly.
