“A wonderful place to stay with friendly hosts – thoroughly recommended”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Booked a two night stay for our event weekend at Chatsworth. Lovely B&B, with excellent accommodation. Both Barbara and Jeremy very friendly and accommodating. We were made to feel very welcome. On arrival Jeremy provided us an overview of the area including a few recommendations. The room was clean and spacious and bathroom was a great size for a B&B. We were thoroughly happy with our stay. I would definitely recommend!
The B&B is a stones throw away from town with on site parking, so a great location. I would definitely stay there again

Lovely B&B and great location opposite the park in Bakewll. Really friendly welcome and nothing too much trouble. The oatcake/bacon/cheese breakfast is a must and will keep you going most of the day! Will definitely stay again.

Has all the qualities that make a good B&B - spotless, bright airy rooms, great location, good breakfast.... what elevates the Haven from a very good B&B to a great one is the hosts! Jeremy and Barbara are extremely welcoming and friendly (without being OTT), and will go the extra mile to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. This included taking the time to drive us to Chatsworth when we enquired about bus times..... If you're planning to stay in Bakewell then look no further - definately recommended!

We returned yesterday from a brilliant weekend in Bakewell. We booked to stay in the town purposely to walk the nearby Monsal Trail and after reading previous reviews about The Haven all of which were positive I cancelled the first B&B and opted to book here instead.

The hosts, Jeremy and Barbara, were truly perfect hosts. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and we were informed of useful information by Jeremy about exploring the area and eating out (Jeremy gave us some money saving cards).

We took advantage of the discount in some of the local restaurants and ate in The Castle Pub and Feliccini's Italian restaurant, both excellent.

We completed the Monsal Trail approx 20 mile walk (a dismounted railway track which you can commence in Bakewell) and explored all the Bakewell had to offer in the evenings. Our room was absolutely lovely and immaculate. Fantastic shower and comfy bed.

I would definitely recommend The Haven to anyone looking for a short break away. It provides a great base in which to explore the town as well as the gorgeous scenery that is the Peak District.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in August and in our opinion we find it's the hosts which make or break the stay. Jeremy and Barbara are just so welcoming and friendly without being obtrusive and it was a pleasure to stay in their home. Our room was clean and cosy with a newly refurbished shower room and the view at the front overlooked the park. Walking through the park made for a pleasant short walk into Bakewell and Jeremy is able to recommend some places to eat with discounts using his business card. We ate at the Italian restaurant and The Castle - both very good meals. We don't usually spend much time in our room but after our walks in the countryside, as the Olympics were on, we relaxed on the bed with our cup of tea and enjoyed the excitement without feeling we were banished to our rooms. We could just as easily have used the pleasant guest lounge to watch the TV. On the second morning I tried the pancakes (scotch) which were gorgeous and more filling than they look. Do try them if you want something different to the full English which was equally delicious. It is excellent value for money in this well run B&B. All in all, a lovely stay and our hosts made it so relaxing.

Room Tip: A room at the back would be away from the road and therefore quieter but it really didn't affect...
