Just come back from a 4 day break at the barn@the the old bakery. Couldn't fault anything.
Clean as a whistle and everything you need for your stay. Ken and Carol gave us the information about the local restaurants and pubs. Thank you.
Beautiful views. If your looking for a relaxing holiday accommodation look no further.

Great location, with some lovely pubs all within walking distance, as I'm sure the owners, Ken & Carol will tell you :) great for walkers, and Bakewell less than an hours walk away.
Some nice touches with a welcome bottle of wine on hand, with milk and biscuits as backup when the wine runs out. All the rooms were clean and airy, the velux windows were a nice touch.
Car park is a bit tight entering as the owners tell you on your welcome brief email.
There was also some work going on one of the buildings in the courtyard on the day of arrival, hopefully it wont be to intrusive on guests at The Barn, but they were using an angle grinder at one point, and dust was all over the car park: luckily our car wasn't in the yard at the time, but it was a concern. And as we were there on a bank holiday weekend, no work was happening after the Friday afternoon.
Hit & Miss Wi-fi though.
Would definitely recommend as a walkers retreat.

The apartment was very tastefully furnished, snug, warm, comfortable, clean and cosy. Ken and Carol were very welcoming and offered great local knowledge. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food in 'The Farmyard'. Walking was great and from the doorstep! Parking is a challenge but we managed. Shops for necessary food provisions are limited but if you come prepared that's not a problem.

The Barn was a great base for our trip, it was warm, cosy and had all the equipment needed. We much appreciated the milk, sugar, tea, biscuits and wine that was there to greet us.We walked to Bakewell and back, cycled the Tissington trail from Parsley Hay, went to Chatsworth and various other walks. Parking off road is a premium in the village especially off road, so that's a real bonus at the Barn. We used the Farmyard Inn on 3 occasions and had good food each time, but you must book. Really enjoyed our stay, thanks Ken and Carol.
The barn was warm, cosy and tastefully appointed. Tucked away just off the high street in this lovely little village with a choice of pubs on our doorstep plus a bakery and convenience store. We ate at the Farmyard Inn one evening and can highly recommend the liver and bacon and home made beef burgers. With lovely walks on the doorstep and in a perfect location for all the other main attractions I can highly recommend this little gem. The welcome pack, including a bottle of wine was a lovely touch!
We stayed for a week and just did not want to leave at the end of it! It really is a unique cottage and you can see a lot of thought has gone into it.
Ken and Carol are the most wonderful of hosts - generous, knowledgeable and helpful.
We hope we can return some day to this little gem of a cottage!

We stayed in The Barn @ The Old Bakery on the weekend of the great winds! The Barn had everything we needed and is a really unusual building. Lovely and warm to come back to after a day out walking, welcoming after a day out in the rain sight seeing. The kitchen/ living room was well laid out with everything we needed to make a meal and settle down and relax on wet windy nights. The bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in and the décor of the bedroom very relaxing, most of all from my side of the bed I fell asleep watching the stars through the Velux window. With very little light pollution in Youlgreave the stars were awesome. The bathroom was small yet perfectly formed and had shower AND bath. All the rooms were very light and airy and everything spotlessly clean. The heating was set just at the correct level, thank you Kean and Carol because so many winter lets are not really warm enough. I brought my hot water bottle just in case but am pleased to report it was not needed. The welcome pack including a bottle of wine was a really nice touch. You are star hosts who deserve a large bouquet and I know when we return to do more walking you will be our first choice.
