“Amazing afternoon tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013 via mobile

A lovely little tea room in centre of Bakewell. We had afternoon tea which was fantastic: a selection of sandwiches, 5 different cakes, scones with clotted cream and as much tea as you could drink! Great value. Very friendly staff and they let us take what we couldn't manage home for later :)

“What a Charming Place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We visited this great place today for lunch. The food and ambience were excellent. The décor is kitsch in the nicest possible way---an overload of styles/fashions which delighted our eyes. The many different patterns of china from the Potteries were a joy to behold! We partook--or rather my husband did--in banter with Gary? (sorry if I've got your name incorrect) and that was most enjoyable too. The service was excellent and we would certainly visit them again if we travel to Bakewell on a day out from Stoke.

“Derbyshire's hidden treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

I went to Derbyshire on holiday and before I went I checked out trip advisor, and liked the Lavender Tea Rooms. This tea shop took a little bit of hunting for as it is not on the main street, but persevere, it is so worth it, Beautiful home made cakes especially the Bakewell tart as my Husband insisted on telling me with his mouth full. The decor is decadent and special. The china and mirrors etc. have been lovingly collected for several years by the owner. It is the extra little touches that are so thoughtful and caring, like the blankets laid across chairs outside so that you can use them if there is a chill in the air. If you don't feel special when you go in, you certainly will by the time you leave.

“Good food! Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Lovely atmosphere. We had the Derbyshire Rarebit and it was certainly tasty and good value. The owner was attentive and the staff pleasant. It can get quite busy and tables are quite snug, but well worth going to for reviving food. The tea was excellent and served in china cups.
(The courtyard setting is quaint and prompted a visit to delightful 3 Little Ducks gift shop and the Bakewell Cookshop...best cook shop I've ever been to ever!) So if you go to the cafe you might end up discovering more hidden gems!

“Interesting spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

We went for a late lunch/early afternoon snack and having seen the reviews and a personal recommendation decided to come here. We were not disappointed. The Derbyshire rarebit is excellent and filling, and my ham sandwich was made with excellent ham. I would go again. The decoration may remind some people of their grandparents' home but that is part of its charm.
