Walking back into history. Seeing how the rich lived and understanding some of the challenges they had. Fabulous house and grounds.

Used to be a friendly place now it’s all about draining the last penny out of the visitors and being damn rude and disinterested. The entry prices are not reflected in the quality of the exhibition or the state of the gardens which are scruffy year after year you hope for something to look tidy complete and cared for but nope it’s more weeds .
No excuse just because the majority of visitors are “ one-off “ distant tourist so they can be ripped off and ignored . Not a friendly place , poor value . Shame on Chatsworth. The Cavendish family make their money from the masses and laugh I guess .
Dear Peter
We're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your recent visit to Chatsworth. Our team have worked incredibly hard to deliver this year's exhibition, Mirror Mirror: Reflections on Design at Chatsworth. The exhibition features works by 16 international artists that have been carefully curated throughout the house and garden. We have had some lovely feedback, however we do of course acknowledge that art and design are subjective.
Likewise the garden team have been hard at work during the closed season, to get the garden ready for opening. Sadly the heavy snowfall we experienced in mid-March caused extensive damage to trees across the estate, including in the garden. This has meant that we have had to move all focus to the damaged trees, felling where necessary and removing damaged branches to ensure the estate is safe for visitors.
The Chatsworth House Trust, the charity responsible for looking after the house, garden, farmyard, collections and parkland for everyone to enjoy, is not immune from inflationary pressures, and we have had to increase the price of some of our tickets this year. All the income from ticket sales goes directly to the charity, and is used to maintain Chatsworth and fund our education programmes.
Awesome house and history with amazing decoration furniture and paintings. All the staff were incredibly welcoming knowledgeable and attentive. Love the uniforms too. Garden looks fantastic but probably not at its best in March. On the other hand the House wasn’t too busy so we never felt rushed
Should be clearly advertised when an "art exhibition " is in place .Very disappointing ,hardly any furniture on view and certainly did not see 30 rooms as per the leaflet .Visited in the past and absolutely no comparison .This was a mother's day outing organised by my daughter's whilst I was visiting from Inverness
Very expensive and the gift aid is done-wrong you shouldn’t pay extra for gift aid the charity should claim the tax back from the government
There is no where for Dog owners to sit out of the weather to have tea and cake and we will not be rushing back to see it over all very disappointed
Wonderful collection of art and furniture with a significant display of contemporary pieces and recent commissions which blend in so well. Sculpture both in the house and garden was outstanding. Loved it all!
Very Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
