Set in a fabulous sun catching courtyard and peopled with caring pleasant staff, serving very tasty food, not surprising this is my favourite place when shopping in Bakewell. I live in the town, so I know all the other cafes and pubs and restaurants, and can report that this place is a little gem.

Visited Bakewell at the weekend with my children. After a stroll round we decided Naughty & Nice looked appealing. Sat down upstairs which was quite busy and noisy with young families, which is no problem. Loved the games and books available to use. Son chose hot chocolate spoon - hot milk served with handmade choc block on a spoon to melt. Unfortunately the waitress asked him to then go downstairs to choose his flavour - why couldn't she offer the choices at the table? Daughter had ice cream float, I had double espresso. Drinks came - double espresso served in a cappuccino cup so was cold by the time it made it upstairs, no spoon for ice cream float. Coffee was replaced promptly with an apology and no charge which I really appreciated. Drinks were nice and the concept is good it just didn't feel quite like it delivered. Would return to try it again but with so much competition it really has to be spot on.

Dear Denimwonder. I thank you for your review. We have learnt from your constructive criticism and now have a notice board with all of our available solid chocolate block flavours showing on it! The staff have been retrained on serving hot double espressos and the staff member who served a float without a spoon has been severely reprimanded. Happy Days! love from Kath and the very hard working naughty and nice team.x

Just a couple of minutes walk off the busy main road this place was a great find for lunch. Lovely setting, friendly staff and quirky building and courtyard. Had the oakcake sausage wrap which was delicious. So much more of an enjoyable experience compared to the cafe's in the town centre. Would recommend for a coffee stop, treat or light lunch.

We visited Bakewell on a busy, sunny Saturday and I wanted to visit naught & nice, due to the reviews, for a birthday treat for my fiancée. It was busy when we arrived at lunchtime and unfortunately there were no seats free to sit out in the pleasant courtyard or out front; so we had to sit upstairs in the lounge, which was completely empty.

All the tables had not been cleared from the previous customers and I had to clear a table for us to sit at. This was abit disappointing as I had expected an excellent experience. It was also very visually loud in the lounge and probably more appropriate or targeted for children and families; which may have been why it was empty. But with the absence of any other option we had to make do.

We chose a coffee and a smoothie to drink and I chose a sundae and my fiancée wanted a Bakewell pudding (when in Rome). I went down to the counter to order and then was told the card machine was out of order. Bit of an inconvenience as I had to walk into the town to get some cash out. Hopefully this was only an issue on that day and not a regular thing.

I then got back to our table to be told that they had sold out of Bakewell Puddings and had run out of the liquor that went in my sundae! This was very disappointing and so we both had to have our second choices. The food came quite quickly and was very nice. I did really enjoy my sundae even though it was missing ingredients, though it was a little pricey, and I wasn't offered any money off for our inconvenience.

Overall I would visit again though not in a hurry. Not the excellent experience I had read about in the reviews. The food was very nice, we were just let down by the circumstances mentioned above. This is honest feedback that I also gave to the staff at the end if my visit.

Dear Giiliweed aka Matt Birkin.Thank you for your candid review. We have to utilise this as a learning 'tool'.Not clearing tables is an unacceptable error and as a result all the staff working that day have been spoken to about the issue, including myself and my daughter (which was very difficult in both instances!) Anyway back to your review...The day you visited was inordinately but happily busy, most of our customers were sat outside (because they could be- WOO HOO!). Forgive me but I think your timing may be a bit squiffy..Your review says you came in at lunchtime. I eat late (9pm most nights) but you paid (up front) at 4.06pm.(A lot of the cafes in Bakewell are shut at that time). From that point of view the fact we had sold out of Bakewell was understandable ( our is VERY GOOD!) and the fact that we had no Dark Side alcohol/syrup was disappointing, however our very capable and excellent Catherine offered an alternative, which you fully appreciate was good. Yes I agree its very sad we couldn't offer you a discount but I have to fund my holidays somehow!(!). Oh the streamline machine-it wasn't sorted until Tuesday! Can you believe that! And we pay them so much commission for the privilege of having a machine.Happily most of our lovely returning customers didnt see this as an issue, and yes, although its not important it was a 'one off'.I fully appreciate you were 'let down' by circumstances'.One point which I should make-that day we had pre-booked 3 large groups-2 hen parties and and a family treat. We would have happily pre booked your fiancee's birthday treat as we specialise in treats had it been booked in advance. We could have treated her with something special! What a missed opportunity! Finally having said all that I note you say you would visit again but our lovely cafe maybe isn't right for you-we are very discerning.Love from Kath and the very hard working naughty and nice team x
