Peak District Holiday Cottage
Reviewed August 23, 2011

I visted The Hayloft with three friends and we had a super time.

It's quite remote, but within easy driving distance of some lovely places. I'd recommend Lyme Park, made famous as Pemberley in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Bakewell for its tarts, and Matlock Bath for an interesting ride in a cable car to reach the heady Heights of Abraham.

A big thank you to the owners Marian and Martin - the cottage was beautifully clean, it had everything you could possibly need and they couldn't do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable stay.

Highly recommended!

Wonderful location off the beaten track. A great place to unwind. Accommodation was home from home, everything was provided down to very small details-even clingfilm and dishcloths!
Very clean, well maintained, self catering house whcih we would certainly return to.

We have stayed on a lot of cottages and so it is always hard when we go to a new one as we compare. The owner of this cottage was hugely accomodating when we booked and flexible when we wanted to extend our stay by one night at the last minute.
The cottage is in beautiful surroundings and the views (we stayed in The Hayloft) are just beautiful from every window, a great deal of thought has obviously gone into the design of the conversion. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and warm, everything that you could want really.
We enjoyed watching the cows coming past the cottage every morning for milking, they even pause to have their photos taken! :-)
The cottage is a great place to explore the Peaks, with all the major places close by, Bakewell,Buxton, Chatsworth to name but a few. We bought food from the Chatsworth Farm Shop every day for dinner...the deli counter is fab!
All in all a fabulous place that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone, we certainly hope to return. All that and it is even dog friendly :-)

Lovely comfortable cottage with splendid views and peace. Close to great walks and very easy to access the 2 well marked family trails of Tissington and The High Peak trail. Good trail books and maps at cheap prices at Brierlow book barn . Friendly hosts and children feel welcomed. Local pubs have tasty and reasonably priced meals, The Bull at Monyash is very close and has decent pub food. Seeing the cows walk by the window in the morning allows you to shake off the shackles of city life and connect with the country

I found this cottage / converted barn on the internet and as with anything you always worry in case it is not as good as it looks in the pictures, however, I can thoroughly guarantee this is not the case here and can wholeheartedly recommend these cottages for a wonderful stay wether weekend or longer.
The cottage itself is immaculate, modern but cosy with real log burner, not that you will need that as the underfloor heating is more than enough to keep you cosy, and the owners are on hand if needed and very friendly with it. They rescued us on arrival with spades to clear their driveway which due to unusually heavy snow was difficult to get up, it caused a giggle on arrival and they were so helpful, even carrying our luggage to the cottage.
The cottage itself had basic provisions, salt, pepper, cleaning products, toilet roll etc so didn't need to being anything like that. The bed and bedding was exceptionally comfortable and we loved the floating bedroom which meant you could lie in bed listneing to music from the CD player downstairs.

I wouldn't hesitate in reccommending the Hayloft cottage or returning for a future stay!

Brilliant week. We do a a lot of walking, (usually in the Lake district and New Forest) but had never tried the Peak District.
Having located the cottage, we had a good base for the week, centrally placed for the area we wanted to see.
We are definitely looking for a date to book for next year.
