We stayed in the Chatsworth Suite which was large, very comfortable and very good views over Bakewell. Location is excellent, only 5 mins walk into town, down steepish hill, since the hall is located on Bagshaw Hill. Relatively modern styling in the room with a large double bath for a decadent soak. We enjoyed sipping wine in the garden downstairs admiring the Bakewell view.
Surprised that the toiletries, tea and coffee in the room were not of a quality, matching the room. Otherwise, we had a very relaxing stay.

We've stayed here twice and enjoyed it very much both times (we've stayed in the Hall itself so cannot comment on the sleep-lodge). The rooms are large and well equipped, very nicely furnished and warm. Lovely views from the rooms. Having small kitchen areas is really helpful for morning teas, breakfast etc (or keeping wine cold!)

When we arrived we phoned the number posted on the door and were shown almost immediately to our room (No 6). Although our room was in the basement it was bright and had a door out to the garden which was a lovely feature- we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio overlooking Bakewell the following morning. The walk into town is about 2 minutes; great for popping down to the Co-op or Spar for snacks etc and also accessing pubs, restaurants and transport connections.

The kitchenette only had a microwave (no hob or oven) but there were good tea and coffee making facilities, including cafetiere coffee. Our only slight gripe was the small quantity of milk- maybe one pint in the fridge provided would be a nice touch? The bathroom was well-appointed with an excellent power-shower as well as a detachable shower head (handy for those showering kids?). Toiletries and a hairdryer were provided which was handy. For those alarmed by unexpected bathroom noises (!), the Sani-Flo system is quite noisy, especially when dealing with large quantities of water (e.g. when the toilet is flushed). The free Wi-Fi coverage wasn't great but I had no problem connecting to my own roaming service, even in the basement.

The building itself is magnificent, with bags of character and period features. We both felt that, given the age of the property, some of the slightly 'shabby chic' elements were forgivable. Living in an older property ourselves, we could certainly identify with slightly wonky floors, walls etc that make fixtures difficult to fit straight! The shared lobby areas were comfy and homely- don't arrive expecting polished Chatsworth-esque styling and you probably won't be disappointed.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Bagshaw Hall and will definitely return- it was a unique and unusual place to stay in an excellent location.

Loved the pictures of this room online, and loved it when we arrived.
Beautiful room, beautiful house, and just as we'd expected.
Was surprised to find a communal lounge - very pretty and boutique looking.

It's not a hotel, so we anticipated the lack of staff and quietness, which was one of the attractions for our trip :) We arrived with milk, water and champagne to put in the fridge, and got takeaway dinners as we wanted to relax in the evening and not go out for meals. The owners helpfully have all the takeaway menus laid out downstairs, LOL.

The room was fab, and clean. We only left the hall at 2pm one day, but thankfully somebody nipped in and serviced the room quickly whilst we were out (we had worried we'd missed the boat on that one due to our late departure on a rainy day).

Great views over Bakewell from this room - with a double aspect in the corner.

Two minute walk to the bus stop to take the Transpeak bus to Wye Dale to walk the Monsal Trail back to Bakewell.

Nice cooked breakfast - a 'correct' size rather than a stuff-your-face sized portion like people may be used to. It's not a hotel, so I didn't hold it against them that it needed to go into the microwave for 20 seconds on arrival. After all, the room has a kitchenette...

Wi-fi signal was VERY patchy in this room. We seemed to get signal on and off when sat in one particular chair. The owners could do with looking into some booster equipment for the signal.

Our room was also oddly warm for a 15 deg celcius day and 11 deg night at the beginning of June. I normally moan about the cold at home, so this was an unusual issue for me. The radiators definitely weren't on, so I just assumed heat was rising from downstairs, or the old brick building construction giving a ridiculous amount of heat insulation! Still, with the windows open (this penthouse room has a double aspect), it cooled to a perfect temperature. I'm just not sure how comfortable it would be on a hot August day though....

Very friendly staff when we spoke to them on the phone / bumped into them in the car park :)

Spent a night in Bagshall Hall primarily due to proximity to Bakewell as we were only in town for the night and didn't want to taxi back to our hotel after a night out. Our room was very comfortable, though a bit of a pain not having access to the WiFi as I think we were too far from the router. Very clean, great value and location.

Very close to the centre of Bakewell with a lovely short walk to it.
The room was spacious with a lovely double ended bath. The room itself was very boutique and had a lovely night sleep. Whilst the staff were absent the one we dealt with was nice.
Room came with a kitchenette which was nice enough and situated to the side so didn't spoil the effect of the room. This came with microwave and tea making facilities.

The one thing we did find was that the fire alarm went off if you left the shower on too long due to the steam!! The bath plug also leaked so the bath took ages to fill!
