Had an amazing weekend here, the boathouse is perfectly located for exploring if you wish or for hiding away & relaxing as we did. Nigel is the ideal host & the boathouse has literally everything you could possibly need (including chilled prosecco on arrival!) Would recommend staying here to anyone & hope to return one day myself.
Just had an amazing couple of days in the Boathouse. Nigel was very welcoming and the location was fantastic! A lovely secluded destination with beautiful views. The jukebox was a lovely addition to the house which we enjoyed using and the hot tub was very nice too. Would highly recommend this destination to friends and family. We also hope to go back as we had an amazing time.
This Review i find hard to put in to words, as it really is perfection at the very least, in every possible way, from the perfect location, to the fantastic and generous hospitality shown from Nigel (the owner). he makes you feel so welcome and comfy, nothing is to much to ask, upon arrival we were shown round and shown how everything works etc etc, and given a complementary bottle of bubbly, (which went down a treat in the hot tub)... Nigel is very friendly and approachable, when he asked my wife if there's anything she needs, she joked how she could do with an ice-cream, within 60 minutes there was a knock at the door and a delivery of a few boxes of ice lollies etc from Nigel the host, nothing was to much for him.. he really does go beyond to make guests feel welcome, comfy, and gives them everything they need...
the lodge its self is just divine, there's something different to look at in every corner, from quirky antiques , to the Betty Boop figures, to the full size Jukebox fitted to the wall, which was fantastic, with a large selection of music from all eras. And surround sound speakers which made it perfect for our BBQ in the evening.. the lodge has pretty much all you need for your stay, fresh towels, bedding, toiletries, with ample seating for all guests, inside and out. you walk through the lodge, in to the glass conservatory which has a nice size tv/dvd and has the Jukebox i mentioned, the conservatory doors open on to the decking area which has a built in BBQ/Pizza oven, the decking area overhangs the well stocked man made lake, which is almost blue in colour very clean and fantastic for swimming, there are a lot of fish in there, some nice sized ones, rainbow trout/brown trout etc etc, and your more then welcome to fly fish the lake at your desire, the owner even offers a free lesson for guests! for those who want to relax, well over the other side of the decking area there's a very warm Hot Tub / Jacuzzi which was very nice sat in there with a glass of bubbly in the evening, looking over the lake and waterfall, also the centre fountain. with free use of the pedalo , canoe, rowing boat, the property has apple trees , tree swings, the wild life we seen was beautiful... we will without a doubt be booking there again, fantastic in every possible way.... best holiday we have ever had.. with nearby Chesterfield a fantastic old English market town, and Sheffield, all within a stones throw away...
to some this up...
perfect Lodge, with a perfect host, in the perfect location..
you will not be disappointed
100% satisfaction from the westy family... thanks so much Nigel... see you again soon...

We had an amazing couple of days in the boat house, Nigel was a great host and really looked after us he had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us as it was our honeymoon!
Lake was great we took the new pedlo out and the canoe, which was such a laugh,
We loved the duke box too and the record player it took me back to the 80's such fun!!
WOW
We have just spent the most relaxing 5 days at the boat house.
The house is fantastic and has everything you could think of including the juke box which has great choice of music on it
The grounds around the house again you can't fault, truly beautiful.
The waterfall leading into the lake is so relaxing and gorgeous.
Nigel can't do enough to help and make sure your stay is perfect, which ours was. So sad to go but will defiantly be returning.
The boats are great fun and my partner loved the fly fishing and Nigel even provided bikes for us which is a great way to see the countryside
Honestly cannot recommend the boathouse enough best 5 days away.
What a beautiful find! From the moment we arrived at Nigel's home, we were greeted with friendliness and warmth! The boathouse is located in grounds of Nigel's home but is very private. The boathouse overlooks its own lake packed with fish and views across the countryside. It has a peaceful way of life and at night bats can be seen flying in display. The boathouse itself offers every amenity possible and an enormous amount of thought has gone into providing comfort for the guests. A vintage and quirky theme throughout and something interesting to look at wherever you view in the boathouse. From the French antiquities to Betty Boo. We loved our stay at Nigel's boathouse and wished we had booked another night there. There was a charming duke box on the wall with music for every genre and we loved to get up and switch on the juke box, playing away whilst we ate breakfast overlooking the lake and the views. It was great to feed the fish too and a fountain and waterfall adorns the lake. I can't praise this beautiful hideaway enough but I can say that we will return and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nigel is the perfect host and provided some nice touches during our stay including a chilled bottle of wine! Provided advice in relation to local eateries too, which we took him up on and enjoyed the choice of restaurant. Very decent chap! Would highly recommend the boathouse and all it has to offer....
3 of us stayed there this weekend. It was lovely , the boast house is small but just gorgeous . It has everything you'd need and more like a juke box !
Although the weather wasn't on our side the boat house was so homely we were happy to just stay and relax in the lounge.
We are hoping to come back in the summer and enjoy the outdoor space more with hopefully sunny weather .
Highly recommended- thank you
