“Rude and unfriendly staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

I was camping at the Barlow lakes campsite with my brother and his mrs and we decided to go here for tea on sunday on the Bank holliday weekend, i popped in to see if they where serving, i was told rather rudely yes but only for the next 2 hours, by brother then went in to see the menu (hes a vegan) and they said they where stopping serving in 10 mins!!! my brother and mrs ordered there food whilst i parked the car and went to the toilet and when i went in they said they where no longer serving!!! one of the locals managed to get them to do a meal for me! all i wanted was a nice meal and i had to put up with rude and unfrendly staff, 2 other familys went in wanting food, one family got told there was no food left! and the other family got told they had stopped serving! very rude staff, one waitress did eventually apolligise at the end of the meal! needless to say i wont ever be going back, shambles of a pub, there supposed to attract customers not be rude and unfriendly to them.

“let down by very slow service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014 via mobile

we have eaten here many times and always been highly satisfied. on bank holiday monday we visited for lunch. to be fair there was only 2 staff serving drinks and food and trade was reasonably brisk but the waiting time was horrendous. we repeatedly had to ask to order food and drinks and then was kept waiting an age for the order to arrive. a two course meal took well over two hours. staff were very friendly and kept apologising for the wait but it did spoil the family gathering. perhaps more staff on bank holidays are needed.

Hello,

I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your meal with us on Monday, a member of staff had called in sick and it took a while for relief staff to arrive. Hopefully your next visit will be more enjoyable.

Thanks
Jill Smith

“Ideally located”

Great atmosphere, lovely staff and good food make for a perfect evening. On a sunny evening couldn't be better sat in the beer garden watching horses riding by.

“A nice evening”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2014

A welcoming country pub with very friendly staff.

The portions, for us at least, were on the large side so make sure you are hungry before you visit.

Everything we had was well cooked although the chips/potatoes – not sure what they were trying to be, but tasted fine, just not very crispy.

We would visit again when next in the area without hesitation.
