The best view of this amazing twisted spire is as you approach from the south. Even people who've lived in Chesterfield all their lives never quite get used to the sight of the spire. If you are visiting the church on a fine day, it's worth going up the tower (currently £3.50 adults, £1.50 children) for the view of the hills surrounding Chesterfield. Tours run most days but phone the church first to check.

Take time to see the historic market town of Chesterfield with its narrow lanes as well. Market days are Monday, Thursday (plus a flea market), Friday and Saturday.

it was the first time my relatives had come to Derbyshire and we met them at Chesterfield station and showed them round. We were lucky enough to have a free personal guided tour of the Crooked Spire by an elderly lady whose knowledge of the church and its history was extensive. She was most interesting and my relatives were very impressed with her enthusiasm. They now want to visit again in the near future!

A great sense of a continuous place of worship for many hundreds of years.I loved it. It's a real centre for the community.
