“Clean, quiet holiday home”
Reviewed April 19, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We were quite happy to find a very clean, quiet but rather central holiday home as a base for visiting our family in and around Chesterfield. The 3 star rating does not mean we would not recommend the place -we certainly do. It just means that the house and equipment is rather basic but still serves the purpose. We would have preferred a dishwasher and wifi (you can book it seperately but it is rather pricey) but since we only stayed one week it did not really matter much.

Had lovely stay in church view. House excellent and in a very central position for visiting all areas of the peak district. For dog owners there is a park and river only a few minutes walk away.

“okay”
Reviewed August 16, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

house in general very clean but ..... fence falling down at side where front door was looked a mess, uneven paving slabs in back garden which I miss placed my footing on a number of occasions. A few minor things e.g. cobwebs, wall paper beginning to come off the walls in bedroom. etc. which for the price tag I would not expect. however key holder lovely and owner very helpful which makes all the difference.

“Perfect house in perfect position”

The house was well maintained with everything that is required for both short and long stays. We had an 8 week stay so really gave the house a test. Assistance from local contact was very prompt when dealing with a couple of minor issues. The only slightly negative comment i can make is there was only one bathroom and toilet which was a little difficult with 6 people in the house.
Location of house was perfect with all shopping, transport and restaurant facilities a short walk away. Drive to town centre was only 5 minutes and out to the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District was around 15 minutes.

“Good Place to Stay”

Two ladies in their 70s and one of 50 on a trip to the Derbyshire Dales to explore, and boy did we explore!!! So to be able to come "home" to a place that was spacious and clean was exactly what was needed after a long day on the tourist trail. Lots of room, comfy beds, clean and lots of hot water for the long soak in the bath after long days out. Chesterfield was felt to be a good location in case weather was bad and needed shops for shelter. However the sun shone on us and we did not need the shops but did them anyway!!! Well its what some women are born to do. Chesterfield is a great base for discovering everything there is to discover in this area. The owners of the house were very helpful during booking process and we felt we could contact them at any time if needed. If I had to give a downside, I can only say it is the downstairs bathroom which is not a problem in itself, unless you are sleeping in the attic. If you are, my advice is set off to the loo a while before you need to go (ha ha). Other than that, great little house.

“Very comfortable”

Spotless and comfortable place in a great location. Well insulated and nice and warm. Plenty of room for two families each with a toddler. Steep stairs so needed to keep an eye on the toddlers to avoid accidents. Great location about 5-10 minute walk from a large Morrrisons supermarket. There's also a nice footpath for walks/jogs by a stream and small dam 5 min walk away.

Walking into town takes make 25-30 minutes and there are some nice open air markets. The beautiful Bakewell, Matlock and Hardwick Hall area each less than a 20 minute drive away.
