80th Birthday lunch for 23 family members. The food was wonderful
with warm and welcoming staff. Nothing was too much trouble. One member
of staff even nursed a sleeping toddler whilst his mum enjoyed her meal! Would
Recommend the venue and will definitely be returning.

This is at first sight an unremarkable modern building but it does contain all the mod cons that one needs for a hotel stay. Ample car parking, larger than average room, nice bathroom, coffee/tea making facilities, lift to all floors and a comfortable bed. Once we sorted out how the little radiator worked we managed to get the room to the right temperature for us. I overheard a guest saying she was frozen overnight so if you can't work it out then ask, there is someone on duty 24 hours.
Breakfast was excellent. It is served to you off a menu choice and is hot and delicious. Only the juice, fruit or cereal is self service. My fried egg was a little overdone on the first morning so I mentioned it and for the following mornings it was perfect. I requested a quiet room and we were put on the second floor at the back room 45. There were two evenings of noisy events going on in the restaurant area but we couldn't hear them upstairs. Sadly we were annoyed by some other guests who seemed to be rowing and slamming doors in the early hours of the morning but I can't really hold the hotel responsible for this.
Around and about there are plenty of NT and EH sites to see. The Hardwick halls are well worth the visit. Chesterfield with it's famous spire is close by but parking is a nightmare and expensive in Chesterfield, I did notice a bus service which seemed fairly regular and this might be the best option for a visit to Chesterfield, particularly if you are a bus pass holder. There is nothing much close to the hotel as the local pub has closed. Beware of Sunday nights when the bar closes in the hotel at 8pm. The next nearest shops, pubs and good chippy are at Dronfield.
We were there to visit family so we didn't really get out as much as we would have liked.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back on the second floor are certainly quiet and have a nice view (beyond the dustbins...

I got married here on 30/3/13. It was absolutely amazing. Exceptional value for money. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The hotel listened to our wishes and met all our needs. Sue our wedding coordinator kept in contact with regular meetings and emails throughout the planning. All our friends and family thought the food was outstanding. Our room was clean, warm and spacious which was a family room as our son stayed with us. The wedding packages are excellent value for money.

Our County team of approx 36 have stayed at this hotel for the last 8/9 years, says it all really!! Every visit the staff have been excellent helping out with our requirements with everything either large or small, nothing was too much trouble. Our whole visit, from room allocation to parking of our coach is aways very professionally and smoothly delt with. Evening meals and breakfasts are of a high standard cattering for our team members, aways cooked to perfection and lots of it. All our rooms on every vist, have been comfortable, clean and had plenty of space to relax. The County has booked again for this October, again says it all. Myself as team manager knows that every detail will be very well looked after. Value for money and the excellent service make this hotel a true gem. Many thanks to all the staff who help us have a trouble free stay.

excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here and overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

I had my full wedding, including ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception at this venue only two days ago, and want to say how amazing it all was!! The organization and planning was evidenced through the perfect timing of everything!!! I was greeted at the allocated door by a friendly and smiling gentleman who put me at ease and guided me to see the registrar, which set the precedent of the staff for the day!! They were all extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble, even when my father forgot his shirt and was promptly given a spare one by the guy in charge!! This man was amazing...he worked so hard all day, from the moment my husband arrived, he was on hand to help and didn't stop until the night and was an absolute credit to this hotel!! The food was delicious including the full english the next morning and the honeymoon suite was clean and attractive, with a member of staff also putting a heater in at my husbands request, and later offering to go and turn it down to ensure we would be comfortable. All in all, the perfect day, with all guests exchanging compliments regarding the venue, thank-you so much and I would certainly recommend the Sandpiper Hotel to anyone wishing to begin their married life here!!!

Room Tip: The honeymoon Suite was delightful, with tasteful décor and cleanliness!! The four-poster bed was at...
