My husband and I rocked up on a rainy Sunday afternoon in desperate need of a pint and something to eat as we'd had no joy at the place we were staying.
As out-of-towners we didn't really know where to go or what to expect but we thought The Cross Keys looked nice from the outside and decided to give it a go.
Unfortunately we'd arrived way too late for food, which had been served up until 4pm (actually quite late for the local area). But the landlady very kindly took pity on us offered to make us a couple of beef sandwiches. This was really good of her as she was already closed and cleaned down the kitchen so much appreciated. The sandwiches were huge, came with crisps and a salad garnish and were absolutely delicious. Judging by how good the meat was I really would've loved to have made it for the Sunday roast bet it would've been lovely.
We also had a couple of pints - the locally brewed Mole's is very nice.
The pub seemed to have lots of events going on judging by the blackboard they have a quiz and karaoke nights as well as showing sporting events on tv. As we were getting ready to leave they were setting up for a poker night. Everyone in there seemed to know each other but they were just as friendly to us. Not all local pubs are this nice to "outsiders".
Also I noticed the pub was very clean. The toilets especially.
I'd definitely go back here again if I was in the area.
