“A worthwhile experience for both house & grounds.”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

We visited this property on a bank holiday weekend in May. It was not too crowded & we were impressed with the knowledgeable & friendly guides based in the rooms around the house.
There are 6 ground floor rooms open to visitors, all full of paintings, cabinets & other antique furniture.
The paintings include names like Reynolds,Romney & even Turner. Some of the Furniture could do with some restoration work, but ,all in all, a memorable visit. A free list of pictures is supplied at the desk,so this helps you to identify your favourites easily.
Do not miss the gardens, which are well kept & contain half a dozen wonderful Peacocks.
Take a picnic with you or visit one of the village tea shops, as no refreshments are provided to tempt you. Garden seats have been placed around the grounds to admire the flowers & trees.
The bluebells were abundant during our visit. We will come again .

“A delightful place ti visit”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

It is a beautiful place surrounded by a big green park several peacock blue live inside the garden. The first floor of the court is rented to the Bath University. I have been there in occasion of a conference organised by the Bath University. But we had the possibility to visit a part of this elegant and royal court. It is an active court, that means that a lord is still live inside.
