Liked large garden and plenty of seats; position near canal, band in garden.
Disliked very slow service at the bar (but pub was busy), expensive drinks. Much preferred The Lock Inn.

Came for lunch in the summer with a friend from Bristol - what a treat! Fantastic table right by the canal, watching boats coming and going while eating excellent imaginative food - good vegetarian options as well as plenty of meat for the carnivors - and friendly quick service. Will go again.

We had lunch here during a holiday on a narrow boat. We were able to moor up right outside and as a large group had a brilliant large round table so we could all chat easily.

The staff were very friendly and quick to serve us and take our order for lunch. The food didn't take long to come and the portions were large. The cheese platter was a favourite, with three big hunks of bread and lots of apple, gherkins and chutneys as well as the cheese itself and others had nice traditional fish and chips (not too greasy) and pie. Everyone enjoyed their food as good British pub grub.

Well worth a stop if you're on a barge this is a nice, picturesque pub for those with large appetites!

Lunch - I had the sardines, freshly and well cooked on a bed of leaves with crusty bread, friend had hummus, olives ,leaves and crusty bread with chile and olive oil and enjoyed it - although too much for her. Garden was delightful and the Stowford cold and refreshing. I wouldn't rave about the place but service was speedy, food acceptable +, setting fine - what more for a quick lunch!
