“A taste of eccentric Bradford”

Mr. Salvat’s Coffee Room

The food and drinks are fine (from a small menu) and reasonably priced, but the real point of Mr.Salvat's is its eccentricity, from the high backed settles to Mr. Salvat and help in frilly shirts.

This is so different you just have to give a try!

We had a lovely soup here served in a querky environment which has to be seen to be believed. I just wished we lived nearby so that we could go there more often.

Occasionally its good to try places that are so very very different from the modern world and Mr Salvat's coffee room is certainly that!. We loved it.
Belief can be suspended for a while, just enjoy the quirkiness of this establishment. The open log fire that looks as if it has never gone cold since the 18th century, the quill pen (biro) that the impish man uses to take your order, the cosy cubicle style layout built it would seem using early Ikea plans and material and the bathroom! Don't take any notice of the gaping hole in the ceiling at the top of the stairs or you could think that the whole place is about to fall down about your ears. Yet the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We hadn't seen the coffee served with the hot water dribbling from its cup-top container since the 1970's. The tea was made with real leaves - now there's a novelty .Do go and experience this throw back to years ago but not on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday as Mr Salvat will be at the market

Seconds from the railway station this is pretty much the first place you come to in Bradford-on-Avon and it's worth stopping here. Housed in a beautiful old building with a fire roaring in the front room this coffee house is pretty unusual in the age of Starbucks and should be celebrated; some of the reviewers' expectations were maybe a bit different but they didn't need to be so negative about what actually makes this place special. There are plenty of other places in BoA if you want a more standard tearoom. At Mr Salvat's, the menu is simple in a good way: cakes and light lunches at very good value. The old cove who runs it is a character and the cafe has the feel of a private house, so getting to go upstairs to nose around and use the bathroom is fun. An essential part of any visit to BoA!

Step into Mr Salvat's 17th century coffee house for time travel. You will be greeted by Mr Salvat in period costume and ushered into the panelled front room with porcelain decked mantel piece above the fireplace and ceiling hung with tankards. Coffee is served in individual filters and cake is obligatory: delicious and locally homemade. Warm iced ginger cake and a slice of brownie - more chocolate than cake - went down a treat. Our son's hot chocolate was topped with cream: luscious and warming with the first autumn nip in the air. You'll explore this gorgeous riverside town with a spring in your step after savouring Mr Salvat's delights: treat yourself!
