Step into Mr Salvat's 17th century coffee house for time travel. You will be greeted by Mr Salvat in period costume and ushered into the panelled front room with porcelain decked mantel piece above the fireplace and ceiling hung with tankards. Coffee is served in individual filters and cake is obligatory: delicious and locally homemade. Warm iced ginger cake and a slice of brownie - more chocolate than cake - went down a treat. Our son's hot chocolate was topped with cream: luscious and warming with the first autumn nip in the air. You'll explore this gorgeous riverside town with a spring in your step after savouring Mr Salvat's delights: treat yourself!

“Lets do the Time Warp....”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Mr Salvat's Coffee Room is an interesting establishment and, as previous reviewers have said: a little different /eccentric but I must say in a quite nice way.

The coffee room has some interesting light fittings ( tankards ) and old paintings adorn the walls. I can imagine the open fireplace would be lovely in the winter.

Mr Salvat is at first a shock - you don't expect to be served by somebody in 17th C attire - billowing white shirt, & breeches or offered the Suduko puzzle to complete. But he is charming.

The soup we had was rich, and tastey, the cake was enjoyable and the Tea was the real deal ( I.e. leaves )

The toilet was very green and seemed to be his personal bathroom.

Overall weird and delightful. Certainly worth a visit once!

“Timed out”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Perhaps Mr Salvat didn't like the cut of our jib. Or perhaps, as other reviewers have hinted, he doesn't occupy the same time zone as the rest of us. We tried to pop in for a coffee at 4.45pm, only to be turned away, none too politely, with the words 'I close at five o'clock.' Well, despite what it says on the board outside, he obviously doesn't - he closes when he feels like it.
There are many pleasant places to drink and eat in Bradford-on-Avon where you don't have to put up with a rather dishevelled old chap who emerges from his dingy, fusty interior to be rude to you.

“Fancy something a little different? This is the place!”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

My companion and I had a hard time keeping straight faces when our server arrived in full on period costumer, complete with breeches, stockings, buckled shoes and a quill pen to take the order with, but it definitely made our day! This is a quirky little place with a real atmosphere, that charges very reasonable prices for good quality food (it certainly came as a welcome relief after the breathtaking prices charged by the riverside establishments). The hot apple juice with cinnamon is something I am now determined to recreate at home. The stairs to the bathroom looked a little steep and could be a challenge for anyone unsteady on their feet, but otherwise this is a great place to while away your lunch hour.
