“What a great place!”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

Just been there for lunch to celebrate my youngest's 21st for lunch with the family.
What a delightful place it is. The staff are charming, the food was delicious and the wine list really very good indeed. Had various starters including hot mackerel salad - mine and just brilliant, main courses ranging from a perfect risotto to braised beef with bubble and squeak. The wine , a brouilly, was just perfect for all the meals, the wine chappie was really helpful.
The building, which had stood empty for 23 years after a family dispute over a will has been lovingly restored which makes the whole experience all the better.

Really nice loos and starched napkins.

Wonderful, you must try it

“Perfection”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

We were great fans of the proprietor, Vito Scanduto, when he was at the Michelin starred Bath Priory and again when he ran the Red or White Restaurant at Trowbridge until recently. Having been slightly disappointed on our first two visits to this elegant and atmospheric period venue before Christmas, all our doubts were swept away this evening when my wife and I had a near perfect dining experience.

Calling in on spec at 8.30 pm on a Tuesday in January to find the place pleasantly busy. We received a warm welcome from the proprietor, were ushered to comforatble armchairs by a real fire, and the menu plus two glasses of prosecco arrived within minutes.

The menu provided a brilliant choice of dishes of European origin and when we were shown to our table in the stylish upstairs dining area we were completely bowled over by the quality of the meal. All were superbly presented, the ingredients were of the highest quality and the overall taste/flavour was gastronomic heaven. Service was unobtrusive and of a high standard and the bill for three courses including two glasses of presecco, one glass of red and one glass of a superb Balsac desert wine, plus coffee came to £81.00 for two people. Not cheap but I would not know anywhere where I could find a better meal at this price level.

A truly wonderful dining experience that we plan to repeat on a regular basis and we particularly look forward to dining in summertime on their fantastic roof terrace overlooking the delightful historic town of Bradford-on-Avon.

“Lovely restaurant, food and atmosphere”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

We (8 family members) dined here for my dad's 70th on a Friday night in January. Thought the food was the best I had ever tasted and certainly matched and exceeded many London restaurants. Would recommended eating 3 courses (most of us had the set menu) and ordering vegetables for the table in order to feel 'satisified'. We all thought about the meal when we woke in the morning, so a sign of great quality! Super decor and bathrooms!! We had a lovely meal - perfect for a special occasion. Good value for money (but then I wasn't paying!!)

“good venue for special occasion”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

Situated in an old building in the heart of Bradford-on-Avon, sympathetically altered to provide both intimate and larger spaces. This restaurant gives you a good sense of a special occasion, the waiting area allows you to relax both before and after the meal with comfy seats and friendly relaxed service, the food is very good, with interesting well balanced meals and good selection of wine. We enjoyed a lovely wedding anniversary meal and will certainly be making a return visit.

“Fantastic Service, fantastic food. . . great wine”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

This restaurant provided a very high standard of food and service and the wine list is amazing - and reasonably priced for such great wines (Chablis 1er Cru 33GBP). Super pheasant sausages as a starter and local meats like Wiltshire Pork as a main. A relaxed but buzzy atmosphere - really enjoyed the evening. Super for a special occasion.
