Description: Nestled on the canal towpath by Avoncliff station between Bath and Bradford on Avon, this 16th Century Inn has idyllic riverside pub gardens where you can enjoy a sumptuous meal whilst enjoying panoramic views of the canal crossing the river. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner & drinks - escape the city, life tastes better here.

We had a small brunch meal here on a Sunday.
The location of this pub is outstanding with a nice view of the river Avon in the valley below and the canal at the front - a real miracle of British engineering really when you see the differing levels.
The food is really quite good and the local beers even more so.
Service is on the ball so we recommed this pub for everything.
In the summer the place is really buzzing and parking is quite limited- perhaps a nice tow path walk from Bradford on Avon nearby is the solution.

Brilliant ye olde english pub with an amazing garden. Food is so so, but worth a visit for a pint in the garden. A nice way to wile away the day.

A buddy of mine and I decided to walk a bit of the canal and we chose the Cross Guns to stop for a bit of food and a pint of ale. What a country pub! Fireplaces, the sound of the water outside, really good food and nice people to share a few stories with.I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked to and I will be going back. You can get there by train to avoncliff or train to Bradford on Avon and walk the 15-20 minutes to the pub. It will be worth it!

Thank ricka..

While on a narrowboat holiday we were lucky enough to enjoy a meal at the Cross Guns. Several ofour fellow boaters had recommended this pub as a must, and I'm so happy we took their advice. The pub is just what you would expect to find in a storybook, but in this case, it's the real deal. And the food, I can't say enough for how good it was. Not at all the typical pub fare. Don't miss it!
