We stayed in fig cottage from 29th December 2017 to 2nd January 2018. The Owners had added a few nice Christmas Decorations for us and, as well as providing milk, juice, tea/coffee/sugar, had left us a nice bottle of wine to welcome in the New Year - a lovely touch.
Nothing negative to say about this property. The pictures of the cottage are true to life and everything that you need is provided. The cottage is in the grounds of the owners' property but you are quite separate from them whilst the owners, who are very friendly and approachable, are on hand should you require anything.
The village of Holt is very pretty and there are a couple of pubs which serve excellent food. Bradford-on-Avon is a short drive away and Bath is not too far either.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped, including oven/grill/hob, washer, dish washer, fridge with small freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine.
There is also a dining table with 4 chairs.
There is a king-size bed in the bedroom which is comfortable and plenty of pillows are supplied (soft and firm). There is a double wardrobe and plenty of drawer space. There is a large mirror near to a socket enabling easy use of hairdryer/straighteners.
There is a sofa-bed in the lounge area and bedding can be provided. There is a TV with access to NOW TV and on-demand. A CD/radio player is also available.
There are a few books/games and plenty of local information. Patio doors open out onto a nice garden area with outside table and chairs.
Large shower enclosure with a powerful shower. Plenty of storage space for toiletries.
The cottage is very neat and tidy and is decorated to a high standard.
I must also mention the heating. There are radiators in every area and the house heats up very, very quickly and retains the heat well. There is also constant hot water.
A true home from home which I would highly recommend to anyone.

We opted for a cottage for a long weekend break rather than a hotel and very glad that we booked Fig Cottage. This is the first time we had ever stayed in a cottage that was on the owners personal residential land, but don't let this put you off in the slightest, it feels separate as it is in a separate building and mostly shielded from the owners residents - also you can park right outside the front of the cottage. The cottage itself is beautiful, well laid out, fully equipped and spacious. It gives a real home-from-home feel meaning if you don't want to take the very short walk to one of the nearby pubs, you can sit back and open a bottle of bubbly and relax in the evening - especially if you have been out on your feet all day. We would most definitely stay here again in the future. Very quiet at night, and the tap water is better than the filtered water we have at home. There was nothing not to love about the place!
We booked this cottage in March 2017 and loved it so much that we returned again in November 2017...and we've just booked for November 2018 too!
We'd never been to Bath before so I found this cottage through internet searches. The cottage is exactly as pictured, the owners are so friendly and accommodating, the information in the cottage about walks, places to eat, supermarkets, local attractions etc is really thorough and has everything you could need - but the owner is on hand if you have any other questions.
The cottage itself is of high quality with lots of attention to detail, immaculately maintained and cleaned. The lounge is comfortable and great for nights-in with a big TV, all the on demand channels and DVD player (note it's not a blu ray player).
The kitchen is great for cooking, very well equipped and with all the essentials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels etc. There was also milk in the fridge ready for our arrival.
The location is lovely and quiet. It's a quaint village with countryside walks, good pubs and cafes on the doorstep. It's also an easy drive into Bath, which is a beautiful city - Bath spa is well worth a visit!
Overall, I couldn't recommend this cottage highly enough, I love my holidays and having stayed in many different places, this cottage exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be a loyal guest for some time to come!
We had a very relaxing three nights in Fig Cottage this week. It's a lovely property, very tastefully decorated and furnished and is warm and cosy, especially the bed which we had trouble leaving! An ideal location for walking and cycling or just chilling out. Nice pubs very nearby, a local convenience store which stocked everything we needed and takeaways in nearby Trowbridge which deliver to Holt. All in all a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend.
Fig Cottage ticks all the boxes, stylish decor, super clean, warm, comfortable, well equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer. It's tucked away in a quiet backwater of the village around the back of a National Trust garden, in the grounds of the owners' house. It makes an ideal base for exploring - lots to see and do in the local area.We particularly appreciated the secure storage for the bikes and the friendly welcome of the owners. A great minibreak.
Although tucked away in a very quiet position, it is within easy walking distance of pubs and a shop. The cottage was equipped with everything we required (and more). Everything was very clean and comfortable. The thoughtful extras, such as a folder full of local information, were much appreciated. Our only suggestion would be a map of how to find the cottage after arriving in Holt - for those of us who are navigationally challenged and don't know there are two churches!
Sophie was extremely welcoming, without being intrusive. We felt that if we needed anything or wanted information she would do her best to help.
