I'll start with the positives (theres not many)- they fit us in at short notice and the girl on the phone was very friendly.the full english breakfast was really good! it was also close to centre parcs-were we were going .
unfortunately, thats as good as it gets. we arrived late afternoon to be grunted at by a vagrant looking guy who didnt smile, say hello or even look us in the eye. he couldnt understand the booking forms so he went and got an equally unfriendly gruff man( think he was owner)who barked 'what name' before disappearing.the vagrant took us to our rooms, which were secured only by one very dodgy yale lock. the rooms were clean and tidy as were the bathrooms but carpets were filthy , the bedroom window had no lock on it, no secondary glazing and every car that went past sounded like it was coming in.grimy tea tray, bedside lamp didnt work, disgusting mattresses which were so old and soft i dread to think how long they had been there.we went to the 'hotel bar' for a drink, where the owners daughter who seems to be 'in charge' was entertaining friends at a nearby table, getting louder and louder. the bitter tasted of something id never drunk before, but it certainly was not bitter. we left our drinks to get an early night for a busy day ahead.alas, it was not meant to be, hour after hour of creaks, doors banging, people shouting , laughing until 3pm,i suspect this was the managers group from earlier,my children were exhausted as were we.sunday night was quieter but a complete rip off.
