I'll keep this brief. We visited Strand House back in October, and had recently become engaged. When the lovely hostess (I believe Ernestine was out of town at the time) found out, she made a point to bless us, which was very kind.

The breakfast was absolutely incredible. I don't know what I had, but it was like cheesey French toast. I am still dreaming about it.

Stayed at Strand House for one night in August of this year whilst attending a friends wedding in Portstewart Golf Club. Don't normally leave reviews but Ernestine was such a delightful hostess that I had to put something down so others could uncover this hidden gem.
Great location just of the beach and five minutes walk from the golf club which was handy for us finding our way home after the celebrations. The accommodation itself was clean and spacious with a great view of the coastline from our room.
My wife and I initially had some reservations about staying in a B&B with visions of living in someone else pockets for the duration of our stay making us hesitant. Our fears were unfounded with the room being closer to that of a hotel, providing us with the privacy we required. Yet the personal welcome we received at breakfast the next day was very much what we had hoped from a B&B and added the perfect touch to very pleasant stay with Ernestine being genuinely interested in our stories of the nuptials from the day before. The food was fantastic too with some very nice homegrown touches. Cant recommend highly enough and if you do decide to stay you will be extremely well looked after by Ernestine and her team.

We stayed in Ernestine and Tom's beautiful home one night in September. From we arrived to we left we were treated as special guests. On arrival, Ernestine offered us tea/coffee and scones. This was our first real treat, as the scones and cake were home baked. Absolutely delicious. The bedroom was immaculate and tastefully decorated. I can positively say that the bed must surely be the most comfortable we have ever slept in. In the morning we had breakfast overlooking the beautiful garden. There were so many choices on the breakfast menu that we were spoiled for choice. Freshly squeezed orange juice, beautiful choices of cereals and nuts, and a variety of dishes for "the main" course. All this was freshly prepared in the kitchen and made to order. Once again we had Ernestine's beautiful home made bread.
I really would encourage anybody who wants to be pampered and made to feel at home, go and stay with Ernestine and Tom and I can assure you, you won't regret it.
Thank you both,
Tony and Paula

We stayed at Strand House for one night while we were on a Vagabond tour of Northern Ireland. It was a beautiful place - almost more like a small elegant hotel, not at all like what I imagine when I hear 'B and B.' It is located just out of the downtown area, close to a golf course and overlooking the ocean. Beautiful wood floors (hurray!) and everything else in the room was spotless. The bath products were lovely - no generic cheapies. Our room looked out over the beautiful gardens at the back of the house; the view out the front would be the ocean. Beds were comfortable and there were good spots to hang up clothes. There was also a table with a kettle, teapot, instant coffee and everything else you would need for a snack - including some homemade cookies. It was a lovely touch. Strand House is famous for its breakfasts - rightly. Fresh orange juice, lovely fruit cup, home made bread, everything was just delicious with lots of choice even if you prefer something other than a bacon and eggs breakfast - smoked salmon with scrambled eggs was one that sounded wonderful. Lovely place, very welcoming couple.

We Stayed at Ernestine's B&B while on a Vagabond Tour of Ireland. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel special. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was top class with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast came highly recommended by our guide and certainly lived up to it.

We spent one night at the Strand Hill on a twelve day tour with Vagabond. I truly wish we could have stayed longer. Ernestine and Tom was gracious hosts, the rooms were delightful and clean, and the breakfast was excellent. The location is perfect. If you want to spend a few days (or longer) in the north, it would be a great place from which to do day trips. When we get back to Ireland, the Strand House will be one of our stops for sure.

The strand house is a very familiar B&B direct to the coast of Portstewart. The owner, Ernestine and Thom, are very friendly and helpful. They have also tips, where you can have a great supper. Particular the breakfast is like in a ***** hotel! Also the possibility to play golf next to the B&B on a fantastic course is lovely. On the whole a perfect B&B not only for the weekend but also for a week.
