The Mussenden temple is an iconic landmark and a "must see" for any tourists in the area. It is free to visit, and set on some wonderful cliffs with great views. It's the perfect place to come for a picnic and is very special to me, as I proposed to my wife here!

All cliffs fall into the sea. They're supposed to. This is natural. I will be very sad, some day, when the cliff at the Mussenden Temple goes, and takes this charming building with it.

Commuting on the coastal train route, I'd always look out for the Temple, up on the cliff top. Beautiful thing to see. (When it was built, of course, the cliff edge was further away.) As a visitor up above, I found the rotunda enchanting. Yes, its a big, empty building. But WHAT a building! It's nice when the world's mad, rich people leave something beautiful behind for the world to enjoy. It is a peaceful, quirky, monumental, magnificent thing. Do go see it.

An iconic landmark in this sceanic part of N. Ireland.
Visited along with Castlerock town and beautiful beach.

A must for budding photographers - regardless of the weather or time of year.

Mussenden Temple is probably the Bishop’s most famous construction, standing on the very edge of the cliff above Downhill Beach. Well worth a visit and great walk.
