Beautiful place to visit, fantastic scenery and views from the temple. We were lucky enough to see the train as well!

Spectacular coastal views from this iconic Northern Ireland landmark. The headlands of the causeway coast on one side, the beautiful Downhill and Benone beaches on the other, Donegal one way, Scotland the other. Wonderful! Advice - come in the Bishop's Gate - park outside. Then walk up past the lake - it's steep but the forest walk and then coming along the coastal headland whets the appetite for the incredible vistas that await.

I grew up in NI and I have to say that this is a favourite place of mine since the views across Downhill Beach and across to Donegal are simply fantastic!
Mind you it brought back memories of being there with an old school girlfriend from many years ago so I'm probably biased!!

Stand here on a windy day, looking past the Temple to the Atlantic and you have had one of life's truly magnificent experiences.

The temple ispart of the Downhill complex which was a very interesting ruin. However, it was raining the day we went, so it was very atmospheric, but would have beena lot more enjoyable in the sun. the temple is an intersting little folly (it is bigger than the first house we lived in) and was being cleaned for a wedding rehearsal on our visit. The volunteer, however, was very helpful, and gave us a little of the history of the Temple. The Temple is interesting as a part of the whole.
