We called in to Mussenden this year on passing, its a place I always spotted from the beach in Castlerock but never visited before. The first part of the walk leads you to the ruins of the mansion at Downhill which are still impressive in their tattered state. Sheep roam the estate and ruins so watch your step! The mansion was built by the Bishop of Derry and Mussenden was constructed as a library/retreat on the cliff edge affording the spectatcular views you see in the photos. A drive along the headland towards Coleraine is also worth the petrol with some spectacular landscape views of the surrounding glens and mountains.
