“Atrocious service, dumb staff”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

Arrived at the Point bar at 4.20, planning to get something to eat before boarding the ferry to Donegal at 5.15pm. We sat in a nearly empty restaurant with waitresses wandering around ignoring us, I had to ask for menus. Ordered food 5 mins later and I explained that we needed to catch the ferry at 5.15pm, so just ordered burgers as they were fast to cook. We sat for 40 minutes, still no food. In this time I made 3 enquiries, each time reminding them that we had to board the ferry, and we were assured that our food would "be out soon". 10 minutes before the ferry was due to leave I asked for the food to go. Another waitress who appeared to be a supervisor came out 5 minutes letter and informed us with a surly attitude that we still had time to eat (it was 5.10pm, and the ferry was at 5.15pm!) When I pointed this out, she said "Just get the next one then", as if we had all bloody day to work around their problems.

Customer service is atrocious, the waitresses couldn't have cared less, there were about half a dozen of them wandering about scratching themselves more interested about chatting about what they did the night before rather than serving their customers. Having worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years, I know that you get the occasional idiot, but it appears that every single waitress in the Point is utterly braindead, I mean, who the hell thinks that you could eat a meal, whilst feeding a toddler and a baby, clear up and board a ferry inside 5 minutes!!!! And what kitchen can't cope with getting an order of burgers and chips out when their restaurant is dead! Note to the management, when employing waitresses, at least try to get a few with some brain cells and kitchen staff that can work a bit faster.

To cap it all, when we opened our food on the ferry, half of the side orders were missing, and the ones that we did get were half portions. We ended up having to go to another restaurant in Donegal an hour later to feed 2 hungry kids. Avoid this place at all costs, it is RUBBISH, I only gave it one star as I couldn't award it none.

“hidden gem”

food and atmosphere fantastic and very reasonably priced. The bar is right on the beach so perfect for romantic walks. There is a ferry outside which when it runs takes foot passengers or cars across the foyle in ten minutes to moville and greencastle co.Donegal so make a day of it. The burgers are lovely and their absolute speciality is fresh fish bought from the fishing village across the water in greencastle and the creamy seafood chowder
